"Shipley Hall and the surrounding parks & gardens are quite simply Stunning, the park area has many apparatus for both the young and old alike, this area also has a big play park extensive car parking and a fantastic cafe come restaurant with public toilets. The old Hall area has plenty of fantastic old woodland areas walls & buildings and miles of walking paths to suit all abilities. All in all it's a brilliant place for the whole family."
"Beautiful place to visit,shame that this Jacobean style house has been left empty. It could make a good holiday let. Gardens have lovely retreat with roof garden and stain glass windows more like a hobbits home. Out in the park we have Derby lodge which has a cafe, with benches outside which is popular with walking groups. The old Shipley Hall is marked out on top of the hill with slabs showing the plan of the building,s foundations. At the visitors center a model of Shipley Hall can be viewed. Ask at the shop they'll show you where it is.Miller Mindy was the lord of the manor. Shipley Park is opencast mining area returned to nature on May 26th 1976 It has three lakes,two are open for fishing. Maperley reservoir has the more mature trees and nature reserve.A large car park both at Heanor gate and Maperley reservoir,"
"An unexpected first visit having travelled to the area. Great space lots of paths and the visitor centre open for takeaway drinks and snacks. Had a lovely tea and cake stop at Derby Lodge on the walk to the site Shipley Hall and water Tower. A really good day I the sunshine."
