"Really good day at the 1940s weekend. The tour around the underground reservoir was amazing and the guide knew all the details. Great to see all the steam engines working and the 1940s event was really well organised."
"Interesting place. You learn about pumps... They have a nice cooling pond which have 100s odd carps. You see the old pumping station back in the day on how they move water around the area and understand how steam power work too. They have a small cafe onsite when you need a little break from all the new information you learnt from papplewick."
"An absolutely fantastic place to visit ! Especially when they are on a steam day. It was very interesting and the volunteers who were here are clearly passionate about keeping such an extremely important piece of history going. The architecture is stunning. Great time was had. Will definitely return.. thank you"
"We first bought tickets for the classic cars and with that you get annual pass which lasts a year from signing, so now just book our free tickets online for steam days and show our pass when we get there. Classic motorcycles today, but traction engines, blacksmith, fairground organ and lots more to see including inside the pump house which is amazingly beautiful.. They also have plant sales and a cafe. The volunteers do an amazing job! There is free entry on Sundays between certain dates when they aren't steaming when you can walk round the grounds and visit the cafe."
"A little gem of a place, staffed by volunteers. A beautiful Victorian Pumping Station set in small but lovely grounds. Entry is £4 including a very interesting tour. There is a cafe, toilets and children's play area. All staff were polite, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They hold steam days where the boilers are fired up and you can visit the underground water chamber. Check their events before going."
