Welcome to Belfast Shodokan Aikido – the premier institution for learning and practicing the ancient martial art of Aikido. Our facility is located at 76A Cregagh Rd, Belfast BT6 9EQ, United Kingdom, and is an establishment that offers a unique combination of health, wellbeing, and fitness benefits. We are also a popular point of interest for those interested in martial arts and self-defense.
At our Aikido center, we offer training and classes for individuals of all ages and experience levels, including both beginners and advanced practitioners. Our instructors are highly qualified and experienced Aikido practitioners who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and skills with others.
Aikido is a fascinating and effective martial art that focuses on using an opponent's energy against them, rather than relying on brute force. Our classes cover a range of techniques and principles, including throws, joint locks, and strikes, as well as meditation practices and mindfulness exercises. As a result, practicing Aikido not only improves physical fitness and prowess but also enhances mental clarity and emotional stability.
Our center is fully equipped with top-of-the-range training equipment, mats, and safety gear, ensuring that our students can practice in a safe and comfortable environment. We also offer a range of programs and classes, including children's classes, women's self-defense classes, and customized workshops for corporate groups.

Reviews of Belfast Shodokan Aikido
"I trained here a few years ago and left due to one of the instructors. Let me start by saying that Paul Bradley and Craig Chambers were very helpful and supportive. Always giving feedback about what you did well and what you could improve on. Davy Millar on the other hand never offered constructive criticism, only criticism for the sake of being critical. I don't know if it was just me he took a disliking to but I eventually left due to his constant snide comments in front of other students. If he is still an instructor there, avoid!"
"Great club ! Good Aikido ! Nice bunch of people"
"Excellent club! Training here every Tue and Thu evening. £5 for a 2 hour session - well worth your money. Instructors are knowledgeable and experienced and teach in a friendly, patient and understandable manner and offer help and advice. Class usually includes base exercises, foot and hand movements, kata, randori, and practical application. I've learned lots (and am still learning happily) and made very good friends. Made me a better person really - can't beat that."
