Reviews of Pretty Windows Day Nursery
"While working here over 3+ years I never received any contract - I requested this many times and was told I would get it ‘next week’ which never came. I also hardly ever received any wage slips. I observed on many occasions the manager making staff members very upset to the point of tears or staff walking out. One of my colleagues found out she was pregnant and told management and the next day that her employment had come to an end. After working my way from nursery practitioner to senior staff member to deputy manager I became pregnant, the manager breached confidentiality by talking about my pregnancy with other staff members before I wanted to disclose this& discussing doctors appointments in front of other staff. I did not have anxiety before I started working here however became very anxious during my pregnancy. I did not return after maternity leave as did not want my mental health to suffer now I’m a parent. I do not believe staffs well-being is cared for by the manager. There is very little flexibility in working hours however if you are looking for full time hours are usually 9-6.30. The policies do not allow any kind of personality in appearance (no tattoos, piercings, makeup etc) - piercings must be covered with blue plaster - even on your face. Management eventually let staff have false nails (must be short and neutral colour). Working here gave me a lot of knowledge on how to deal with a variety of situations. I learnt a lot over my time here as I was able to do a lot of training and work with people of different academic levels. I built good relationships with parents and children and a deeper understanding of the EYFS and childcare in general. Unfortunately after studying and working really hard on my management qualification my manager decided to cancel (one month before I was due to finish). This was heartbreaking after doing assignments for over a year and not receiving any kind of achievement at the end of it. I also have nothing to show for being senior or deputy. In my opinion it is a difficult place to work - especially in regards to professionalism, mental health and staff. I had to contact UNISON and other outside agencies many times in regards to the way I was personally treated."
