Reviews of George Spencer Academy
"This school has had major bullying issues for more than 20 years. Do not send your children here. They will get an education st the expense of their mental health."
"If you want your child to get half decent grades and learn parrot fashion to regurgitate for an exam then this school isn't too bad. Start peeling back the layers and you will see bullying is rife, and not acted upon even when reported. The ethos of excellence is a catchy slogan but not lived and breathed. The amount of substitute teachers used is way too high. Lunch break at 11.15 means children are very hungry coming home from school - all due to the fact there are far too many children at his school - but money talks doesn't it I do feel empathy towards teachers as they have a thankless task made more difficult by the Senior Leadership Team - I have never known a school to have so many Directors who simply don't direct, they pontificate and procrastinate at best. Focus is on shoes, skirt length, hair colour, number of earrings - nothing is done about preparing these children for adulthood and the working environment. An OFSTED report of outstanding in 2015, when will the next one be as I'll be interested and amazed if anything that's above plain average. Thought OFSTED reports were every 4 years? As I said, if you want a factory of parrot taught children and who are decent at sport then this is the school for you. Also what's been built at the school is self protection via the various escalation levels - they look after their own. By its own naming convention it's no longer a school but an academy - money again perhaps?? Sole reason for being an acadney is to get good exam results to apply another start and get more money - all of the time the children are suffering I could go on and mention many many more negative points but I think you have the gist from the above"
"worst school i’ve seen so far, went to look around and it’s all unorganised. in my opinion you should only do maths and english gcses. nobody needs geography and history, even the teachers i saw was so rude. i asked a question about the maths and got back “it doesn’t matter if you don’t come”. not sure what that was about. 1 star review i think. do NOT attend. seems very unorganised (like i said before) and very uncomfortable environment. not sure i’d look around again or even attend. luckily i moved away but do not send ur child here. the management can’t manage."
"I have had 4 children go through this school (one still there) and would not recommend it to any other parents. The school has an ethos of bullying from pupils and teachers to pupils. They seem to care more about their image than the pupils, especially children with neurodiversity. They have a ‘our way or no way’ attitude and will never admit getting anything wrong. The budgeting goes to ridiculous new ‘traditions’ rather than the pupils and the SEND provision is non-existent. Ethos of bullying and disrespect. If your child is shy, anxious or different they will not cope in the environment the staff provide. Children are shoved and hit on the bridge over the A52 and despite many parents complaints it is still not supervised and teachers outside stand looking at their mobiles looking bored, or screaming at kids for the ‘wrong shoes’. A renect work experience teacher was heard on their phone outside the school saying ‘don’t ever work here they treat the pupil’s disgusting’. I echo this sadly as a parent."
"This school seems to forget its working for children, they aren't their commodity. The uniform policy is a joke, taking coats off children when it's cold because they are the wrong colour, then isolating the child for a day! Toilet breaks are a basic human right. Bullying is rife, but if you're into football you'll be fine. The management team can't manage."
