Reviews of Standing Stones Lodge
"Beautiful place located ideally out of Central business area. The hosts are attentive, going above their remit to take care of us. Got caught up in snow storm and car would not go up the hill. They got us up to safety with our kids. The following morning they took us down and made sure we were on our way back home. Food was delicious, rooms warm. Never been to a place and been so well taken care of, hats off to this wonderful couple."
"We haven't had an opportunity to stay as yet however we have had an opportunity to frequent the restaurant! From artwork displayed from local photographer John Mallon, to the staff who could not have been more accommodating and of course the food that was second to none. We will definitely be returning."
"Incredibly cold, the heaters wouldn’t work late at night and it’s a bit of a drive to Belfast town, however the scenery was exceptional when it was snowing. In terms of the restaurant, I would not recommend going there - your money would be best spent somewhere else. My beef burger had no taste and seasoning, my partners roast chicken was drier than the Sahara dessert and the apple crumble was just a pile of steward apples with some biscuits - quite a disgrace to be honest."
"Absolutely fantastic little place to stay. I was really impressed with the lodge for the price that we paid. The girl at the reception/bar was also extremely pleasant and very welcoming and we were to get draught beers until 10pm. We only stayed one night as we were flying out early the next morning, but after staying in various hotels around the city centre the previous week, my partner and I agreed and this was definitely the best experience of them all. It really felt like a home away from home. We will definitely come back to stay here in future. My only suggestion is to have some curtains installed. The vertical blinds don't give enough privacy regardless of how you close them, and the bed is right next to the window (Lodge Nr. 8). Other than that small detail, it was fantastic!"
"Saturday afternoon after a nice walk on the trails went to the restaurant for dinner, been there a few times before and liked it. We ordered appetisers some concerns over the hot hot chicken wings as the last time they were absolutely too hot. I didn’t order them but one of our party whom loves hot wings wanted to try them, this was discussed when the waiter took our order. Starters served in a timely manor, upon tasting the hot hot wings became an issue ingredients had been changed and were no longer very hot, very hot being anticipated. To try to avoid any further issues with the main course I walked up to the wait staff whom where standing at the bar and let them know that the sauce was not very hot as advertised and could they check that the burgers would not have the same sauce as the wings, requested in a relaxed and respectful tone. Another staff member explained the old sriracha sauce recipe had caused too many complaints of being too hot and I totally concurred and thought it was sorted. Soon the main course was graciously served by two different staff, we enjoyed our meals and were planning to finish with coffee and or desert. About half an hour later our plates empty no one had checked on our table, the restaurant was mostly empty just one other table, ours was not cleared which is usually when desert or tea or coffee would be offered. Three staff were standing at the bar chatting amongst each other looking in our direction, THREE TIMES I attempted to gain their attention looking straight toward them and raising my hand, Soon I gave up as it was clear we were being ignored and disrespected. I had to go up to the bar and ask for check, explained to the lady behind bar we had wanted desert, she claimed not to have noticed and disingenuously motioned did I still want to order, meanwhile the original waiter whom had taken our order made no eye contact while next to me and began singing some tune to himself la la la la la just to add insult to injury. Maybe its a family run business and customers can be treated badly without any worry?"
