Reviews of NHS Nottingham Health Centre
"Discriminative & Nepotistic place of work Management: The management are very dismissive and will tell you to ask your colleagues for further help if needed. The issue with that is, the staff tend to be new or might not have knowledge on the matter you are enquiring about; so ideally your next step would be to speak to management. Training: The training isn’t really training, it is more less hands on work. If an issue occurs, you learn in the moment, rather than in advance. I find this process okay to an extent because, when you call management for further assistance (when necessary), they may possibly be busy-or if not-can’t be bothered to assist. The trainees (myself included) tend to learn off the other trainees and then end up stuck at a point of nowhere because, we haven’t been shown any of the other useful resources that tend to be used often. Day To Day: Some of the clinicians are rude and like to rush their consultations with patients, just so that they can leave out early. There is a lot of double standard behaviour, as well as-dismissive and ignorance in the workplace. A situation I encountered (a week from my start date) for an example was, a clinician eating my snack, that was next to my belongings and at the start of checking-in for my shift; before any consultations or patients in the building. If people are eating other people’s food, yet the manager is making hypocritical inputs to staff members in a group chat about other protocols on the reception area, it’s a double standard. I was told that in the past-previous staff and management would leave food around the reception area to share for people to help themselves to. Yet in this situation, mine wasn’t to share and it was a small snack that was next to my belongings; which I left there-to simply use the toilet before getting started for my shift. Voicing My Concerns: I have also been vocal about most of my concerns to the manager and their response for situations is nonchalant, reluctant to change or empathise. They said, I quote, “ that’s just the way how we’ve been at GP+, that’s the nature of GP+ basically”—which is inexcusable. Overall: In summary of my experience, I do not find this place of work respectful or professional for anybody actively looking for; ‘receptionist’ experience, ‘administration’ experience, NHS work, part-time or full-time (if possible) work and city centre alliance-based work. There are also privileges or favouritism that staff receive compared to other members of staff, which is unfair. An example of this is, one of my colleagues being best friends with the manager and them knowing each other for so many years; dismissing reasons for concern when their name is attached to something. If you are a person who wants theirs thoughts and feelings valued, or stands up in situations (for others as well as themselves) knowing right from wrong, this organisation isn’t suitable."
"I have consistently had great experiences with the GPs at this centre. I have found them all to be kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I especially recommend Dr Lacey. I have also never had to wait too long for an appointment, results or referral - this is by far the best GP practice I have been registered with in the UK."
"Veryyyy bad!!!!! I’ve been calling 3 days at different timing and in all of them they didn’t have an appointment avaible (waiting the que 40min) Once I got an appointment, it got cancelled and they call me 1 week after that to say doctor will call me. Doctor didn’t call me, im without medicine all this time and still with my problem and pain since 1 December. Also what is this new fashion of sending a “trying to call you “ message without actually calling ? I have evidence :) Thank you for wasting the time I can give to my 6month baby."
"Like Mikey said below, have been waiting for 25 minutes to connect. Got to queue position 1 and then someone disconnects the call. This is a regular occurrence. Shambolic service, with one receptionist in particular wholly lacking in empathy, manners and customer service skills. Have regularly heard her belittling patients on the phone when in the waiting room. There is a man on the door who is extremely unhelpful, just shrugs and points you to the desk for any enquiries. Many people entering the practice were actually unsure if he worked there. Absolutely shocking. EDIT: Rang back again, got to 18 minutes and was then disconnected. Are the receptionists answering ANY calls? Shall see what can be done about reporting this practice."
"This absolute nonsense of having to call at 8am each morning to get an appointment I was getting my head around. When you've been on the call queue for 30 mins, you get to position 1 and the person on the other line disconnects the call. Thats unacceptable. Potentially someone is extremely vulnerable and struggling...how is that fair? Please be more conscious of the fact that people are calling you for help. Don't be so careless !"
