"Popped in today to return a faulty item. I stood at the till and a manager came over to help. Couldn’t have asked for more. He was friendly, polite and helpful. First class all the way. Over the years I’ve shopped here I’ve had interactions with managers a few times and they’ve always been first class. Whoever’s working today gets a double thumbs up!"

"Disappointing experience. Visited Smyths Mansfield last night to purchase a McLaren Ride on Car (obviously not the cheapest purchase). I knew the item had been reduced on Black Friday by £50, so thought I would ask if I could get a reduction now it's back at full SRP (don't ask, don't get theory). Anyway, answer was an abrupt 'no' from the Manager (Mark I believe), but worth a try. The signage on the shelf, said ask for help when lifting... so I did. The Manager (probably the least motivated person I have ever met) grumbled and said I can't help you out the car (okay thanks for that, but that's not what I asked). We got the car down and went to the checkout (massive queue with only one girl on the till). The Manager grumbled again, can't help that and laughed i.e. the queue. The frustrating bit was the Manager then just stood doing nothing... watching the queue grow and giving no support whatsoever the girl on the checkout. My point, the Manager could have helped out to the car (if it was required), he could have helped the girl on the checkout and he could get some motivation! Look after your customer Smyths before someone else does!!"

"Extremely unprofessional by staff member Paige. I walked in, and up towards the Customer Service Desk. The young lady, Paige, looked extremely miserable, I asked a question and she just firmly said no we don’t, no sorry, no smile, nothing. She then said I haven’t done this before to the other young staff members. The other young staff member was more helpful and asked for the Manager to assist me more, in which my issue was resolved by him. However, again, no hello or a smile. Considering it’s a Kids shop, shocked me with the attitudes. Need of a happy meal if seems! Needs better training on approaching customers, first time visit, definitely won’t be visiting again."

"Manager extremely rude I took my 1 year old little boy to pick his birthday present he follow him all around the shop with a horrible manner telling him not to tough the cars on display and he was picking which one he liked!! He had a attitude that stunk and I believe someone like him shouldn’t work in a children toy shop if he doesn’t get on with children he was even like it with another lady in there shopping for her little girl disgraceful I will not be going back there for my little boy anymore !! Someone needs to talk to him"

"Shop well stocked and good selection but not one member of staff has ever been helpful in the numerous visits we've had here, we decided we'd rather treat our kid elsewhere. No customer service present and as an adult we don't feel welcome in the store nevermind as a child."
