Reviews of Dolphin Hotel
"Real ale pub, full of old characters to match the interior. Full on a Thursday night. May not be for everyone. Good pint, friendly staff. I will return when I'm back in the area"
"The 'atmosphere' makes a pub, and the dolphin has the feel of a cold, damp ship with the only warmth coming from the practising sea chanty band that bless the pub every so often. Still, the warmth of the sea chanties couldn't prepare us for the barmaids' faces upon our arrival, which welcomed us with a mix of distain and annoyance. With a leaky ceiling, clinically bright bulbs, and artwork detailing out of date events, the famous dolphin hotel didn't have the awe that it legend portrayed. The fact is that there are better pubs on the Barbican. With some TLC, this pub could reclaim its legend. I hope it does."
"Well decided to pop in to one of my all time favourite pub when I use to live in Plymouth. Was still early 6pm coal fire not looking healthy almost out ,to my surprise the landlord, manager, boss man decided to strip the lovely looking Christmas tree down and when he finished that started on all the rest of Dec's It was Only the 28th Dec.what about NYE .So I asked him and his reply was ,when was you in here last referring to that I'm not a local. Where did he get his management skills from ,know wounder pubs are closing so quick with idiots like him running there pubs."
"This is a great pub for ale, a real traditional boozer, they have 7 ales tapped straight from the barrel, which I find very pleasing. The selection of ale means there’s something for everyone, and I’ve enjoyed many a good pint here."
"Bass paradise (The beer not the fish) served straight from the barrel on the back fitting. Whenever I am in Plymouth I make sure to visit the Dolphin, excellent ale and a very nice atmosphere."
