About Stanton Drew Circles and Cove
Welcome to Stanton Drew Circles and Cove, a spectacular tourist attraction located in the heart of Somerset, United Kingdom. This remarkable establishment offers a glimpse into the Neolithic era, where mysticism, ritual and ancient beliefs were at the forefront of human culture. The site is divided into three main formations, the Great Circle, the Northeastern Circle, and the Southwest Circle - each one a stunning reminder of our prehistoric ancestors' ingenuity and creativity.
Constructed over 4,500 years ago, these thought-provoking megalithic monuments are among the largest and most complex prehistoric structures in Britain, and they continue to fascinate archaeologists, historians and visitors alike. The awe-inspiring Great Circle, for instance, spans over 420 feet in diameter and consists of 27 standing stones. The Northeastern Circle, the most complete of the three formations, contains 10 standing stones and one recumbent (a lying down stone). And the Southwest Circle, while smaller in scale, is a beautiful testament to ancient craftsmanship and skill.
But perhaps the most captivating feature of this site is the Cove, a unique alignment of three stones that stand apart from the rest. Nestled into a beautiful garden setting, the Cove has long been the subject of speculation and wonder, with many ancient and modern theories attempting to explain its importance and meaning.
At Stanton Drew Circles and Cove, visitors can explore these magnificent prehistoric formations up close, walking among the stones, learning about their history and significance, and getting a sense of the profound spirituality and mystery that they evoke. Whether you're a student of ancient history, a nature enthusiast, or simply someone in search of a breathtaking experience, Stanton Drew Circles and Cove is a must-visit destination, and promises to be an unforgettable journey back in time.

"OK for a quick stop. Free parking by the farm buildings. English Heritage site, £1 honesty box entry. A couple of info boards by the entrance. The circle is a fair size, not too bad for a little wander around"

"Ancient stone circle. Very quiet and undisturbed. Comes with none of the business of all the popular places like stone henge. Free with £1 honesty box and roughly 5 parking spaces (free too)"
"Nice little history with devils and druids in a small pretty village. £1 honesty Box per person..Nice food in the pub druids arms.. cheeky stop"
"Visited today and was surprised that there was a £1 per person entry fee (I should have researched it first). Or, be like everyone else that visited after me and not bothered paying at all! Had a quick walk around two of the circles then headed back before the rain set in. Hoping for better weather next time."
