Reviews of Cock & Hoop
"Sunday roast was good, but we asked for medium rare beef, but it came cooked. Dessert was so good! Overall, everything was great. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Would come back."
"So impressed with this place. Visited for afternoon tea yesterday afternoon, a Saturday in February 2023. After a really dreadful afternoon tea experience with the same friend at a completely unrelated place in the midlands in December, we really didn't know how this one would go . . . but the whole experience was wonderful. The welcome was efficient and incredibly friendly. The staff knew exactly what we had ordered - a gluten free tea, and a vegetarian tea. When the tea was delivered the amazing waiter went to great lengths to pass on a message from the chef to my gluten free friend that it had all been prepared separately for her, the tray wiped clean etc - which was a truly lovely, and reassuring touch, very professional. The lunch was tasty, with a good selection of sweet treats. The prosecco was light and pleasant. We were checked on so many times, to make sure we didn't want - or need - anything else. It was perfect. The atmosphere was that of a friendly local, clean and comfortable. Thank you for a lovely experience. Oh yes, and the prices were very favourable too."
"Truly excellent, stylish real ale pub and restaurant opposite the Justice Museum in Nottingham. This place offers a nice variety of well-kept cask & keg beers and some fine-dining level food at reasonable prices. I had the Magpie Roam and the Bang-the-Elephant "Have You Seen My Umlaut" (a fine beer that's completely unlike the Munich Märzen-style it's supposed to interpret) for drinks and a great lunch of cod fillet. The guy behind the bar was most forthcoming and helpful (he let me try the beers before ordering). There weren't a lot of people there because I had lunch rather early, ahead of the Robin Hood Beer Festival later that afternoon. A friendly, comfortable place that I'd highly recommend."
"Great beer, great food and lovely staff. An extension to the hotel next door, this pub has several levels and nooks and crannies. It offers a great choice of nice beers, avoiding the c**p stuff. Plus some great food at sensible prices. Feels like a local."
