Reviews of The Mandrake
"Stunning hotel and bar (we were here for drinks only). Superbly decorated areas and professional but not pompous staff makes this place a hidden gem. The drinks are pricey but very good. Shame we couldn't actually stay here, perhaps next time!"
"Had a excellent stay here. All staff are polite and chatty. Special thank you to Antonio the bar man who was a delight! Also the hotel, bathrooms, bar everything was spotless which sadly seems to becoming less and less common. Was a prefect stay and will be returning."
"Can't comment for the overnight stay but my goodness, the bar here! Unbeatable! Such an eclectic, amazing vibe with unreal service. The staff are accommodating, friendly and go above n beyond for your experience. If you get the pleasure of meeting Antonio, you won't forget it. 10/10 recommend."
"If this hotel claimed to be a 4-star hotel, I would’ve awarded it an extra star. But to claim this place is a 5-star experience is inappropriate. The decor is amazing for sure-really unique vibe, the terrace is gorgeous, and the rooms are stylish. But it seems they focused more on the trendy vibe they were after than making sure the hotel was actually a well rounded experience. As many others have stated, if you stay on a Thurs-Sat night, there is incredibly loud music playing till 2-3am, and if you’re in a room that shares even one wall with the club (including multiple floors up), you will either hear it or feel the vibrations very clearly. The staff was excellent-everyone was very kind, helpful, even went above and beyond many times just to be nice, so no complaints about them. In the room, the bathroom was our major issue. The sink would completely overflow if you left the faucet on for just 30 seconds, and the shower smelled HORRENDOUS. Like to the point it was hard to shower in there. So overall not a bad experience, just not a great one, which is what I’d expect for the claimed rating (and especially the price- I’m confident I could’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn and received the same great service and adequate food without the issues I experienced for much cheaper)."
"The lowpoint of our tour of London Cocktail Week participants. You wouldn't bother. Sitting in a cold drafty blackout courtyard with a meaningless cocktail being told you had to leave by 9pm was as welcoming and enjoyable as a cup of cold sick. Why did they even bother to participate in the cocktail week, if they didn't want visitors to feel welcome? All they did was to show what a jumped up , self important, dark black cellar they possess! We supped up, stood up, I turned my phone camera on so to find the exit. and we went somewhere better - well before the 9pm cutoff."
