Reviews of The Barley Mow
"Stopped for a quick lunch after dentist and weekly shopping, had an excellent meal and only £10.50 for 2meals. Husband had gammon and I had fish and chips both very good and hot. I know that they had some bad reviews last year but have certainly improved lately."
"Stopped in on the way through Banbury. We were dubious after seeing several negative reviews on here, but I've got to say we were pleasantly surprised. No the food isn't Michelin star quality, but its a well priced feed up. All the staff were more than pleasant and we were extremely impressed by our waitress Lilly. She was extremely polite, not only to us but to the other customers around us. Thank you. We will be returning"
"Steak was perfect on all plates, and the food all round was just delicious. Clean plates from all of us including kids, from mixed grills to gammon, chips, egg & peas. Desert was just great! and when asked the staff where more than happy to help with removing and adding things (due to allergies to berries) Oreo Sunday is beautiful, a must try! & the treacle sponge was warm & cosy, it tasted lovely. Fast service, and the chef did himself proud with our food, a credit to the establishment, no complaints just praise from us here. Thank you to the Chef, and all staff at the Barley Mow. Nathan & co."
"We booked a table for 7 for 1pm, the last of group arrived at 1.10pm, we ordered drinks and food. After asking twice our food arrived just before 3pm. My fish and chips was good, children's were OK, other adults wanted burgers but all they chose on menu were unavailable, they settled for other dishes and were disappointed. The girls on the bar were under constant pressure and in no way to blame for a 1 star rating I have given."
"Thankfully we live over 160 miles away so we won’t ever consider returning. Popped in for some late lunch whilst away on holiday as a family of 5. Food was terrible. Half the sides weren’t available before we ordered either. Our daughter had the pizza and it came out absolutely swimming in grease and the base really doughy. She ate what she could so as not to be wasteful but it’s consistency made her feel sick. I had the sizzling grilled chicken, it initially looked nice but the fattest end of the chicken was pink. Where the rice bowl was sat on black hot plate the rice at the bottom was turned to crisp. I will say that my other half’s meal was ok, steak was as and his chok ( although he hadn’t looked at it ) The other meals were literally just freezer items that let’s be honest in a fryer you can’t go wrong with. We spoke to the manager about the pizza which she then refunded."
