"Took a policy out on 05/01/23 was due to start on 30/01/23. Couple of hours later a policy was available by Hastings which provided me better level of cover and was cheaper. I took the better cover and cheaper policy out. Called in 06/01/23 to cancel the original policy I took out. Every consumer has the right to a 14 day cooling off period. When I tried to cancel my policy I was told I would be charged £20. I put in a complaint but was not told why I was charged £20. My question is my policy hadn’t started with Hastings, they hadn’t added me on the motoring insurance database as I have cover else where yet. So not sure why they have ripped me off by £20. Don’t use this company……… was told I would get a refund within 3-5 working days for the first policy I put in. 5 days later still awaiting refund. I had to call in and chase where my refund was. Was told I need to check with my bank, turns out the refund hadn’t been processed properly, and people out there pay extra for call centre support. Absolute shambles. Cos Tassou Let me know when your going to be refunding me £20 and an explanation on why your charging me £20 for a policy which hasn’t started yet!"

"A joke of an insurance company. Will never use again. A complete shambles. The process to get additional information in not in there terms and conditions. They they impose this at a later date. Letter received 10 days after sending then my policy was cancelled within 8 hours of receiving the letter. Useless customer service, who don't know there own policy's. Social media team who send you to the wrong departments. Unable to send out receipts for additional payments needed. Would advise everyone to stay clear! They are the cheapest on the comparison sites for a reason!"

"I was with Hastings for a year, no accidents so I had no problems. I turned off the auto renewal about 3 weeks before my insurance ran out, as I didn't realise you're automatically placed on auto renewal, so always check this. But it's been a stress free year so thanks. I didn't renew with them as it was only £1 cheaper which I think is unfair considering I was with them for a year and didn't have to call about anything. But besides that they're alright and everything was pretty straightforward"

"I received an email stating my car insurance was being renewed. I called to say I didn't want a renewal as I had gone elsewhere (I wasn't aware auto-renewal was on). The email stated that I wouldn't be charged if I cancelled within 14 days of the policy starting (policy starts tomorrow) so I'm still on my current policy, only to be told I will still have to pay a £20 handling fee. Obviously, I wasn't happy about it but what can I do - this is how these companies make a quick buck on the side. I asked the customer service advisor to send me the bill. Her response was to tell me that she will email me the bill but I should read everything carefully and, if I didn't pay after a certain period of time, they will pass my unpaid £20 fee onto debt collectors. At no point did I say I wasn't going to pay. Why would one of your agents say that?! I won't be buying insurance from here again. Unnecessary extra fees and extreme customer service agents."

"If I could post 0 stars I would! The service I’ve received from this insurance company has been outrageous! I had an accident back in June they went back and forth to write the car off or not which has taken until October to say it’s wrote off once again, the money they offered at first was ridiculous then they said I had to pay storage fees even though they put my car in there. These storage fees were no little money out of the car money I’d be left with less than £1000 to get myself a new car. They promised to send payment which has taken over 3 weeks when they first said “3-5 working days” I had to chase this company so much they don’t call you back when they say they would. They state “a stress free claim” this has been nothing but stress and aggro ! Avoid at all costs otherwise you may be in the same situation I am in!"
