"My daughter has been part of dance unity for a few years now. Her self confidence, co-ordination and abilities have all blossomed. The instructors are all kind and enthusiastic and my daughters adores them all! Highly recommended!"
"My daughter started age 3 in the Melody Bear group. It took weeks for her to engage and I mainly did the dancing, with her on my hip. The dance teachers were patient, kind and helpful and she started to really enjoy it. Then Covid struck and understandably, my daughter lost her confidence and we effectively had to start all over again to build her up. Yet again the teachers were amazing and showed exactly the right proportion of kindness and patience but equally encouragement to get on with it - in a very very nice way. It’s been a pleasure to see her develop and look forward to each dance class or medal test and whether she ends up dancing longer term or not (she’s 6!), I would recommend this school to anyone for a fun activity that will build your child’s confidence. Well done to all at Dance Unity and a big thank you too."
"Before you send your child to any dance school please do your research, visit a few and look around ! I sent my daughter here for the best part of a year, she had just come out of nappies. Melody bear classes were huge with teachers that were clearly not old enough to teach. Because of the large classes she had no confidence, however I persisted Dance Unity do not progress from melody bear to rosettes, they have their own money making middle stage called "stepping stones" or something similar it's an in between stage parents are not allowed to go in and watch, I had to drag my little girl in, they would pull the blind down so you couldn't see, and the parent area was so small and rammed with no refreshments, I often left and went for a coffee, with the blind pulled down and unable to offer support through the glass, I felt uncomfortable and in limbo. On the final lesson we went to they had left the blind up at the end and my little girl had stopped dancing, she came out I asked her what was wrong and she showed me her thumb, she had bitten it so bad it was bleeding and she told me she wasn't allowed to go to the toilet and was told to keep dancing by one of the instructors. I never went back after this. It took another 6 months and a lot of research before I started her back dancing again. Needless to say they didn't ask me once why we stopped going, and 24 months later she's in a fantastic dance school, in Caerphilly where the owner is a professional dancer and the teachers are the best dancers around wining huge international titles, she's allowed a toilet break whenever she wants and there's no blind so I can give her a little wave before going for a cuppa with the other mums in the on site cafe My little girl who is four now, danced a whole routine in front of a massive audience in kings hall in Stoke and she is so amazingly happy. She still remembers dance unity and the day she wasn't allowed a wee. Listen to your child it's not a hobby if their anxiety goes through the roof and you have to drag them in there. Dancing isn't about the money and how many trophys the dance school brings in, it's about children's development and happiness. It's taken me a while to write this, but having just watched my daughter and son dance again in front of a huge audience I don't want any parent go through what I went through in dance unity. All of her current teachers have worked hard to rebuild her confidence. Find the right school !"
