Reviews of Sir Jonathan North College
"Very disappointed with the recent changes to the uniforms. The only place you can buy them from are selling a t-shirt or a jumper for 4-5 times the price. purchasing them anywhere else will cost up to 60% cheaper. If you have more than one child attending this school, the cost of purchasing just couple of things from them could be a week of income for many families. not sure if this is a business move or just an ignorance, a total disregard from the school to the parent who can not afford it."
"I will miss SJNCC . The teachers are great (most of the time) and i had a lot of fun. There is very little bullying and overall its a great place."
"So, I recently stopped attending this secondary and saw a lot of negative reviews. Honestly it’s not that bad. Bullying is little to none and there often isn’t any bullying from year 11 to year 7 as it’s considered unfair from upper years. The teachers are for the most part lovely and friendly to all students and are very often unbiased as possible. The only majorly negative problem was that teachers often don’t listen to problems that aren’t school related if you don’t have a negative past. Except from that I have fond memories of this place and it is for the most part. A very nice school."
"This school trades on its so-called 'outstanding' status, but it is very very far from being that. It is my ex school and although I went there years ago, I know girls who attended recently and they have had the same rotten experience I did. I also live very close to it so see evidence of the problems daily. There are far too many students attending this school from well outside the catchment area due to it being a single sex school and that being popular with certain parents - how on Earth is that still happening? You see people carriers and minivans jostling for spaces all along the school road and flooding into the residential streets all around at school times. Also errant children littering and screaming at each other like banshees, which is a nice sight to behold at 3pm every day. Yet the school is 'over subscribed' and probably enjoys this version of events being spun as to the majority of ignorant parents, it helps the school 'look good'. In addition, they get more money per student (approx £8K in 2019) this way so they are sitting nicely on all this cash yet failing to invest it in a high quality enriched education for all students. There are a huge number of students who are nasty bullies, which hasn't changed much since my time, and I don't know anyone who went to this school who wasn't bullied, which is really sad. The teachers that I have interacted with don't care about extremely worthwhile extra-curricular activities going on just outside the school gates either, even though it will cost them nothing to let other teachers and/or students know about these activities. They simply stare at you with slack-jawed disinterest if you have the displeasure of trying to engage them in any conversation. Neither do they care when ex students are doing great philanthropic work for the community. Hardly an outstanding school or outstanding teaching or outstanding staff. I have told local parents that I wouldn't send my dog there, let alone a child, and I doubt this opinion will change any time soon."
"Appalling. The girls run wild, set off fire alarms, and there is no sense of structure in the school. SJNCC is also a hotspot for bullying, if I were you, I would never send my children there ever again. I only sent my child there for 4 weeks and I discovered it's a nightmare. Take my advice and apply for Fullhurst or Samworth."
