"Don't bother with a swimming membership if you have teenage kids as they will only be allowed to use the pool during "family swim" sessions which is basically parents with young children having a splash around. We waited months to get a family membership but our daughter is 17, a competition swimmer and swim teacher. She doesn't want to splash around with little kids, she wants to use the swim lanes but they are only available for the "adult" sessions. I phoned and enquired, explaining the situation and was told that it should be OK for her to go on the adult sessions as there was another family that did the same but it would have to be confirmed by the manager first. We were then told that no she can't do that but we could wait until she was 18 and then just get a membership for her, but of course then wait months on the waiting list. What good is that when she wants to swim now and we already pay for a membership?! We were then told it is because of the limited spaces because there is a waiting list and that's why she couldn't use the swim lanes during adult sessions. What difference does it make whether two paying adults go or she goes on her own?! That is not taking a space away from anybody else. Utterly inflexible and uncooperative staff and an absolute waste of money. Great if you want a single membership or you are a family with young children but for teenagers they expect them to play with the kiddies or not bother going."
