Reviews
"Saw Troy Hawke here last night. It's a great venue with really nice decor in the bar"
"Wonderful local venue that I have been to many times. It has really interesting artists to see, especially comedians with shows on Radio 4 and good quality cover acts - I've seen David Bowie, Pink Floyd, two Elvis Presleys, and Johnny Cash! During the Ilkley Festival, it has the headline artists, too, which are always interesting, e.g. authors, poets, journalists releasing books. The seats in the stalls are all the same level, so I do favour getting ones in the front rows by booking early if I can. The view from the balcony is excellent if you can climb the steps easily. (I didn't look for a lift, so I can't comment on this.) There are boxes, too. The concerts do not always sell out, which can affect the atmosphere at the start a little, but the people that do go are always 100 per cent behind the artists, which more than makes up for it by the end. It often feels like an informed, devoted local audience. When it is a sell out, it has a tremendous atmosphere. There is always a bar for drinks, though not food other than ice creams. There is usually a queue for these, so do allow time. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The toilets are quite small, so they also do have queues at intervals, but are all right before and after the event. They are clean and have soap and paper towels. Parking is just outside for disabled access. Since the permit only parking was introduced, we now use the main central car park in Ilkley. This isn't far, and we have never failed to find a place for evening events, though allow plenty of time for daytime events. If you can get here by train, do so, it is extremely convenient for the station - buses too for that matter. It is a lovely venue, it has wonderful decor, and it is worth coming here for that alone."
"Abdolute gem of a place. Small intimate theatre with attached bar and adjoining large function room. Well kept and comfortable. Great place and loved it. Handy for the bus and railway station."
"We visited Kings Hall 6 times last week as part of the Ilkley Literature Festival. Lovely bar and seating area upstairs. The Hall was nearly full every time, but it was comfortable, easy access. Excellent sound. A really lovely building, well worth a visit."
"Attended literary festival there. A beautiful clean building. Staff were very pleasant. The atmosphere was calm and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit."
