"Avoid, avoid, avoid. We had rooms booked, turned up to check in, and got rudely refused entry at the door because they'd used the place to house refugees instead. That's fine, help the needy, but to be rude (borderline aggressive) to people who had paid, and then the manager even refused to come and speak to us. Then took weeks to get a refund. Would never go back. Don't care how cheap they are."
"I've stayed here a few times visiting family and I enjoy the cleanliness, good breakfasts and the staff are great! DONT park in the carpark opposite the Parish Church but turn left at the hotel and the carpark is just past the hotel. I really recommend this hotel!"
"Two friends and I booked into this hotel in March time, about 4 months before our stay, for one night to go to a concert. We arrived and the doors were locked. We knocked and some sort of “manager” came out and told us they had been “closed for renovations” since December. We later found out that it’s a refugee holding. We hadn’t received a refund, or been contacted in any way to be told that the hotel didn’t actually exist anymore, so we were stranded 3 hours from home with no where to stay. This hotels embarrassing excuse for organisation meant that we could still book it 3 months after they had closed and they are STILL available to book through google, hotels.com and booking.com despite being completely closed to outside customers. We told this “manager” our frustration and anger and the complete lack of incompetence we had received, only to be told to leave with no help whatsoever to find a new place to stay. I strongly suggest that this pathetic justification for a hotel makes a conscious effort to practice some coordination as I would not wish this experience on anyone else."
"Terrible experience with this establishment. Booked months in advance to stay a night for a friend's wedding. They cancelled on the Monday before the wedding. The male member of staff couldn't have sounded more uninterested if he tried. Really left us stuck. Ended up staying at a Travelodge for £100 for a night as they were the only place with reservations. Discussed this with many other guests at the wedding some had expressed the same treatment. After speaking to some staff there they explained that the hotel are calling guests to say the boiler has broken and that they're staying shut for renovations when instead they're full booked with refugees and have closed as they're now fully booked. Not impressed and would not recommend this shambles of a hotel to anyone."
"Staff were impeccably dressed. The guys on reception were lovely. It's a big old building with lots of rooms. It looks as though it's due a revamp, but In this current climate, the room was clean, comfortable, spacious and airy. The bath was big and deep and the towels were fluffy and clean. Breakfast was down stairs, and attention to service was lovely. Something you don't always get nowadays ... Nothing was to much trouble. Definitely worth the money.."
