"Gem of a place, very welcoming, food was amazing everything you need for a relaxing stay"
"Family booked the five rooms for 2 night stay. We were all very impressed with the hotel. It was very clean, everything we could want was in the room, we needed an iron, that was brought to the room with ironing board, no problem.. everyone working there very polite and helpful. Loved the situation of the hotel, great views and very quiet. Enjoyed our breakfasts, had evening meal on the Friday steak night, what a bargain and tasty, melt in the mouth steak. Fantastic value. Hopefully we will return. Highly recommend"
"Sadly this hotel is let down by the person entrusted with running the hospitality aspect of this business. This hotel runs a 'quid pro quo' method of entrusting the next door Public House with booking in & arranging hospitality aspects for guests when hotel staff are absent. (This proved to be a period of 20hours over our 24 hour stay). Upon arrival, finding the hotel front door locked we attended the P.H. to be booked in. The person booking us in had no knowledge of the hotels' system, working or swimming pool usage inc.extra towels. The grounds & car park are littered with dog poo ,fresh & dried, from the P.H. landlords 3 dogs - he walks them for 5 minutes , 3 times a day in the Hotel grounds allowing them to defecate where they want. This dog mess is not cleaned up. Hotel interior was clean & fresh. Towels were lovely , fresh & thick. Bedroom walls thin. Enclosed Swimming pool has French doors which give a view over open fields & a table & chairs patio. (Be careful of the dog poo here !) The advertised sauna exists, but is - a) stocked floor to shoulder height with various inflatables. b) is not working due to a long standing ,but not mentioned upon booking, fault . The spare parts not being available to repair it. I don't fully understand how this wooden toy store can be listed as a functional amenity. (If they had a broken helicopter in the carpark, would this mean they could advertise helicopter flights as well ? ) To obtain access to the pub people need to navigate an external.path from the hotel to the P.H.next door. This is made more difficult by the pub landlord selfishly blocking the only path with his black 4x4 at the junction of the roads & buildings leaving pedestrians with the option of walking into the road, hoping that vehicle drivers , who are 'view blocked' ,by the parked vehicle can avoid them, or squeezing through the 1 metre gap between the vehicle & the buildings , clambering over the broken utility box door which lies on this part of the road. (The landlord presumably does not feel safe parking his vehicle in his large 'punters only' car park a mere 3 metres away across the road). Disabled hotel guests beware. The Hotel l has a large (dog poo infested) barriered car park that the Hotel Welcome pack says is locked between certain times to provide guest vehicle security. However , it does not get closed, or locked. ( Presumably this is the landlords responsibility , but it's not done). The Hotel welcome pack also contains pub menus displaying 2 different prices for the same meals. The 3d different price list being in the pub itself !.. The timings in the bunpf for obtaining/ serving meals are disputed by the pub staff. Chaotic to say the least. Pub food -poor quality, badly prepared/ cooked, expensive & cannot be recommended. Wanting a meal at the pub in the evening we were bemused by the lack of basic manners, helpfulness or knowledge of the person answering the phone on the hotels behalf. It later transpired that the 'staff member' answering the phone was the pub landlords 10 yr old granddaughter. We were treated to the open phone conversation of her & grandad as we wished to book a meal. His bad mannered, arrogant replies to her reveal either a person under stress in his kitchen, or someone unconcerned with someone else's business ,upon which he also depends for guests' financial favour. The breakfast was served 0800-0900 ( early for a hotel). The quality was surprisingly good, with ample portions. ( Possibly not cooked by the landlord?) The plated meal is arranged per proforma the night before to the pub. The hotel staff , who arrived the next morning, were friendly, informative, helpful & kind. A lovely hotel, in a nice area. Disappointed. I know this seems more of a review of the PH next door , but is relevant due to the pub staff effectively running the hotel on a day to day basis at every level. The Hotel is badly affected by the lack of professionalism of the PH."
"The rooms were nice enough. Lady that cleans them is lovely and very accommodating considering we weren't aware there were no changing facilities or showers in the pool room and we had booked it for the check out time so didn't have access to the room. Explained to the lady cleaning who was happy to let us nip back to our room for a shower. In a lovely spot as we were visiting Haworth which is only 10 minutes away. We don't live far away and myself and my daughter fancied a night away without all the chaos of home and rushing around. My daughter is 4 years old so things don't always go to plan! We had booked food but came down and asked if we could come in an hour earlier which was fine with the pub. The waiters and waitresses were well trained, however, the service was over the top for the establishment, they seem to be held to a very high standard for a pub but wasn't reflected by management. The staff came up to our section where only we were sat at least 7 times while we had one main meal, it can be a little overwhelming when you just fancy a chilled getaway. We had booked breakfast for 9am but was 5 minutes late, again, things don't always go to plan! We heard the dissatisfaction from the kitchen at the bar and was then told we nearly missed it as they were just going to turn it off, we had been stood at the bar waiting a few minutes before we were seen and had been asked to order breakfast the previous evening, which we did. A phone call then proceeded to take place whilst only myself and my daughter were in the breakfast area and 1 or 2 in the bar area, containing a fair bit of foul language. I have worked in the hospitality industry for years, in all different sectors and I find it hard to believe that senior members don't understand that if you treat your customers with respect and empathy, they will be more impressed than fancy decor and facilities."
"We had a fantastic experience here. They were able to add an extra bed for my son and when I mentioned that it was his birthday they placed a lovely gift in our room. The room it’s self was also lovely. The scenery is stunning and being able to book out the pool was a real treat. It was also one of the nicest breakfasts that we’ve ever had. Thanks again!"
