Reviews of Llanwern Bull
"Looks are ultimately deceiving! Beautiful building, lovely outdoor play area. Quickly seated upon arrival, even though we hadn't booked. Easy service, scan QR Code and order via the app - super easy and convenient when you have a toddler. Highchairs were disgusting and needed to be thoroughly wiped down before use! Floor was dirty and clearly hadn't been hoovered the night before or even in the morning - rice and bits of plastic everywhere - really great when you bring a toddler out for lunch. Indoor play area is a great idea, but again, disgusting and dirty. Had to wipe everything down. Crusty food residue, probably ice cream, down one of the interactive screens, very unpleasant. Food all over the floor and mucky finger stains everywhere - we arrived 10mins after opening! Essentially it looks like the place hasn't been cleaned properly since it opened. Food was a let down too. 2 main meals and an under 5s took 40mins, which is totally acceptable - we ordered quickly as we heard there was a party of 22 celebrating an 18th birthday. Unfortunately the side order of onion rings were stone cold, so needed to be replaced - which credit to Jamie (bar tender called for his help as we left, or we wouldn't have known his name) he replaced immediately and with no fuss. I order hunters chicken, which was drier than the Sahara Desert and had what tasted and looked like no BBQ sauce at all and the onion rings I mentioned, just tasted like 3 day old grease. I have worked in hospitality for the best part of 15years and this beautiful looking pub, is a huge disappointment once you walk through the front doors. We stayed 20mins after finishing our food, and our table still wasn't cleared before we packed up and left. Whilst the price is reasonable, the quality is lacking, and so is the cleanliness."
"We booked the Llanwern Bull because we have been there before and had a very positive experience. Since it was a long time ago, we decided to revisit with family from abroad back in town. Just like our previous visit, we ordered food and had several drinks from the bar. As there was 21 guests, we had a wide range of food to try and having spoken to everybody at the time, there were only positive remarks about it. In terms of drinks, well I can say that everyone had a good time and also enjoyed several drinks each - with Brains SA being particularly popular in the group. I would also like to note that the staff were really friendly and polite throughout the night. They were very helpful and couldn't have asked any more from them to make the experience better. If they ever get to read this, I'd like to say a big thank you, as this was a family gathering after a big funeral. In terms of improvements, well, there isn't really anything that stood out. I think overall it was a largely positive experience and I know we will return again. If I was pushed to give an answer, I'd say when I tried ordering drinks on the app, because there were so many drop downs, it did get a little confusing to use, also some drinks weren't on the app but were being served at the bar (Brains was one that wasn't on the app). But as I said overall, there wasn't anything major that negatively impacted our experience. If you read this and would like any further input on things, I would be more than happy to elaborate further or provide any more feedback on anything mentioned in this write up."
"Came here after the rugby in a group of 7. Even though we were early we were seated and greeted with open arms. Staff couldn't have been more friendly too. Good standard of food, good choice of drinks too and a good atmosphere to boot! Would recommend and probably return too if we book the same accommodation."
"Wonderful in all aspects! Booking via the app was simple. Friendly helpful staff greeted us on arrival. Menu choice was superb along with the children's menu which we used for our granddaughter. Lovely, clean play/activity areas for children available which we made use of both inside & outdoors. Ordered at the bar & our meals were served swiftly & piping hot. Would highly recommend & looking forward to returning. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ."
"Friendly staff but the child portions aren't very big. Have been to other pubs in the area where the kids meals are £2.99 but these are £4.55 and you get half as much food. Only had a kids meal for my little one but the other customers plates looked fantastic in all fairness. Will be returning with girlfriend for a pizza as those are made fresh with proper oven etc. Looked really nice. But yeah, very friendly and polite staff bumped it from a 3 to a 4."
