Reviews of Sir Robert Peel
"I visited Sir Robert Peel to have lunch with friends. The menu is quite broad and service is attentive and courteous. The pub is cosy and, even if small, very accommodating. The manager asked us to preorder the day before our visit. When we arrived and sat at the table, we only waited for a few minutes before having our meals. I had fish (haddock) and chips while friends had fish fingers sandwiches - a quite popular and tasty option offered by staff. However, fish and chips could've been prepared with more attention and served more dignitously. The haddock was slightly overcooked and a tad dry in the inside. Chips were tasty, but not exceptional. More importantly, they didn't look hand cut. The menu presented the fish and chips as accompanied by coleslaw. This was not provided. Lastly, the menu was a tad overpriced if one considers the setting of the establishment (an industrial area close to public offices). In conclusion, a good place to have a pint, but food and offers can be improved."
"Horrible vile Scottish landlady she’s very rude and aggressive! went in for a quick pint as near the hospital, the pub was empty me and mate sat in corner and she stood there listening to our conversation and when I said the f word she went absolutely nuts wouldn’t let me finish pint and kicked me out! For swearing… in a pub.. gobsmacked. What does she do on a match day when there’s 100 blokes chanting songs in her ‘home’.. will never step foot in that place again hope the old witch drops dead. EDIT: thanks for reply landlady truth hurts doesn’t it! No wonder your home is empty everyday apart from couple of hours before the football! Would help if you could pour a pint your beer is rank and watered down!! Btw it’s your not you’re dumbo learn English!"
"Everard's Pub with some nice guest options. A very nice pint of Stairway from Burton Bridge and a very decent Titanic Stout. Good Pork Pie too. A little pricey, but a good option on a Tigers match day."
"Attended rugby for years and always come to the peel- but staff are letting the place down. Little girl behind bar was unable to communicate appropriately . It felt like pulling teeth and she didn’t want to be there. Beer and food very good however."
"This is the first time I have been to this pub for many years , Lovely old pub , traditional surroundings great beer but unfortunately rude Scottish women behind bar i presume landlady , she made us feel we were sitting in her living room , don’t do this don’t do that , don’t stand there, there was about 3 people in the pub ,you would think she would be happy for new customers …. I will never set foot in that place again …. Shame"
