Reviews of Northern Cobbler Coffee Roasters
"Lovely spot away from the city. Great coffee and friendly staff. Food is fresh and tasty. Vibe is very chill. Highly recommended."
"We were really excited to try Northern Cobbler Coffee Roasters but unfortunately it was extremely disappointing, mainly because they didn't have most of the items listed on the menu. First we ordered oat milk coffees, but we're told they had run out of oat milk. Then we tried to order the trio of croissants, and were told they had none of them. Instead we ordered toast for our little boy, which on the menu said it came with your choice of two jams from a list of four. They only had one of the jams, so that is what it would come with. For my husband and I we ordered the banana bread and baked egg pretzel. 5 mins later the waitress came back and told us they had no eggs to make the pretzel. Okay...so ordered the only vegetarian bagel they had on offer, the Dory, which said is served in a poppy seed bagel. 25 minutes after we ordered she came back and told us they had no bread for the toast and would refund us for it. When the rest of the food came, the bagel hadn't been toasted, and was a plain bagel not a poppy seed one. When I queried this she said they don't serve poppy seed bagels for allergy reasons. You then wonder why the poppy seed one is on the menu at all? It was randomly served in a bamboo steamer (very odd, as it was stone cold) and when she handed it to me she asked if I'd like a plate. Why not serve it on a plate in the first place and skip the pretentious bamboo steamer? Whilst the waitress wasn't rude, we found her to be very unapologetic for how bad an experience this was turning into. Sadly this place appears to be entirely style over substance. We won't be returning."
"I like this place a lot, I make a special trip to get my coffee here once a week or so. If you do the same you’ll probably think I’m crazy. It’s round the back of a big building on the B6047 (a great road if you enjoy driving), you go into a kind of open area with a few wooden tables scattered about the place maybe with one or two people with laptops, maybe just you, you wonder when they’re planning to do something about the floor, and so on. Still, I like it, it has an atmosphere all of its own, the coffee is good - roasted on the premises - and the cakes and buns are terrific. Needless to say, it is so nice that the council are quibbling something about planning permission. With all the planning problems that Leicester has … . Anyway, it’s a very nice place."
"Large open building with good seating outside as well. We stopped by on a Sunday and had great expectations, but disappointed that only a small selection of cakes and pastries were available. Coffee was average, service was slow with just one young girl serving behind the counter. Very clean, but seats were hard. Not likely to visit again and definitely not on a Sunday morning."
