Reviews of Brook's Restaurant
"We were cautious about returning to Brook's - having had an amazing wedding reception there in 2017, before it changed ownership - and never quite found the temerity to return until a rainy post-Valentine February evening. We needn't have worried - it is now our favourite West Yorkshire dining destination. Relaxed, attentive service and superb cocktails were followed by an outstanding range of small dishes, consistently flavoursome and interesting - and very attentive to veggie needs also. Pud menu was small but similarly noteworthy. Couldn't fault the visit in any way.... and only feel foolish not to have discovered Brook's considerable virtues earlier....."
"Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch here at Brooks. Every single part of the meal was stunning (especially the buttered greens!) and I’m Still thinking about it! Can’t wait to try something else here and of course return for Another Sunday lunch!"
"What a frustrating time we've just had at this place. It had started off so well. The food here is very nice, if a bit overpriced but unfortunately our lovely experience came crashing down, when we came to pay. We had been charged for a substitution, so when it was questioned as to why. We were informed that the substitution costs more to make, than what was taken off. Effectively, they were saying it cost's more to produce and cook one hash brown, than it does to not cook a slice of black pudding, do they even know how asinine that sounds! So for the sake of £2, they stood by their decision and left two locals, who were eating at their establishment for the first time disappointed, frustrated and unlikely to return!"
"Looking at the reviews I hate to do this but we didn't have a good night. When we sat down we were given the menus but we were talking and discussing what we wanted when the waitress came over and asked what we wanted we said we weren't ready and she said she would give us a minute and that is exactly what she did. We said we still weren't quite ready and she rudely replied she would only give us another minute and then said the kitchen was closing. We chose what we wanted and the starters came which were not great. The mains then arrived and the naan breads were burnt and the mussels were bland. They looked like they had been put ontop of the sauce not cooked in it. My husbands chicken was ok but nothing special. We were with another couple who were very disappointed. The manager did ask us if she could bring anything else but we said no. By this time it was late. She did knock us some money off the bill but we were disappointed. Maybe we just got a bad night as the reviews are normally very good. It has been a long time since we were last there and it was definitely not the same. The one thing I was cross about more than the food was the rude waitress."
"What a little treasure! We visited Brook's after my wife's sister saw a review in the Guardian and recommended we go (she lives in London so could not go herself). The restaurant is small and relaxed, well decorated without being pretentious. Offers a good selection of drinks particularly wines, though their ale selection was a bit limited. The food however was epic! And while it's is not a tapas restaurant, the sharing ethos of the dinner servings makes for a fun and varied eating experience. The treacle malt muffin off the small bites menu was exceptionally delicious, like warm Soreen, and the singular scallop was well cooked and beautifully presented. The small servings menu was delicious, we shared three dishes between the two of us, with the artichoke pasta with oyster mushrooms just pipping the black pudding dish as our favourite. The cod choice not so much, but don't let that fool you, they were all at worst very nice. We shared a large dish, the roast chicken offering accompanied with two side, a delightful pureed cauliflower dish and a caramelized cabbage option. All of which rounded the meal off in style. While not a criticism, more a reflection on my wife and I's preference, the dessert options did not quite appeal, but as we left and retired home to indulge in a food coma, this was no huge loss. Overall, Brook's comes highly recommended. The service was friendly & efficient, and the food being not short of exceptional!"
