"Prepare to be disappointed... I can honestly say that going to Spire Hospital has been such a poor experience. Can I start with the fact that they're a private hospital and they lost my blood tests? Really though, it started with my appointments. First of all, their communication is terrible. I booked two appointments - bloods and a scan - and never received confirmation via email so I didn't know where I was meant to go and had to call to find out. Then, when I arrived for my blood test, they told me I needed to do a stool sample and were surprised that no one told me. I live a considerable distance from the hospital (an hour) and had to take time off work to visit. So I then had to take more time off work to come back and drop off the sample. Then there was the dropping off of the sample. I was instructed to call in and book an appointment on the day I wanted to drop it off. So I did and got an assigned time. It turns out that they didn't book this in at their end, though, as the person on the phone 'was busy at the time'. So I then had to wait in the reception for over 30 minutes just to drop my sample off. An utter waste of time and no apologies from anyone. After this, I got an email from my insurance provider saying that the hospital had reported that I didn't attend my appointments. That was concerning, but I confirmed I did in fact attend my blood tests, scan and sample drop-off. And finally, I had a call from Spire last week saying they're very sorry but they lost my blood work and would I like to 'pop back in to get it re-done'. Except it's not a 'pop' as I live an hour away. I am so shocked at the standard of this hospital and the way it is run. They were clearly overrun which was visible when I was sat waiting, but it's not an excuse. This is peoples' time you're wasting - and vital time needed for necessary tests and scans. Not good enough."
"Had a hernia op carried out here (much much quicker than poor NHS). Service was efficient, caring and effective and for me good value for money as can get back to normal activities quicker. Mr James Hewes did a great job. Staff were good and facilities clean and relaxing."
"My mum received excellent care at this hospital after undergoing a hip replacement op. The surgeon (Mr Sullivan) was very pleasant and reassuring. All staff very nice. Thank you everyone."
"I received such Amazing care whilst staying at the Spire, I can’t rate the team highly enough. Everyone did everything they could at all times to make sure I knew what was going on and what my options were. The anaesthetist, Nick (don’t know his surname sorry) was so lovely, he was kind and informative and helped me understand everything my body was going through. The post op recovery nurse, Andy Newman was very kind, he stayed with me and spoke to me whilst I felt poorly and made sure my husband knew how I was getting on. The nurses Percilla, Seema, George and Robyn were all really attentive and always made sure I was being looked after perfectly. Carly, the physio was perfect and helped my confidence in what my body could do. My surgeon was Mr Eastaugh-Waring; who in my eyes is the best out there. He’s not only very talented but helped me know what my limitations are going to be for my training lifestyle. The whole team are just brilliant and I can’t thank them enough."
"Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I booked my appointment for a medical clearance for work and explained in the email what the appointment will be about. After arriving to the hospital, I was informed by the doctor that she can not assist me with the form I needed. She was really polite and apologetic, she also told me that I will be refunded for the visit. The review is just about the refund and the waste of time. I sent an email, did not get a reply and when talking on the phone with a member of the team just now, I was being redirected to speak with someone else. I did not find the conversation polite and it is just such a hassle to book and provide all the information what it is for, not receiving it and now trying to spend time of the phone to chase another person. I tried to call the number given from the first person and didn't get through so left a voicemail. The doctor seems nice and she did redirect me to the other place which has the license to do the clearance for me so one star is given to the administrative part of my experience."
