Reviews
"Capel Manor CP is a terrible campus, with poor communication between staff and students, late notice on everything ranging from assignment deadlines to when college is going to be closed and visible favouritism (especially with white students and white teachers). However the practictal instructors on the farm are amazing, going into detail explanations and demonstrations from the first day. The safeguarding team are also amazing and the only ones that take complaints and concerns seriously. If you are serious about working with animals and flourishing in your studies, don't go to this campus. It’s been horrible this year."
"Lovely little college & farm, with knowledgeable staff"
"Studied here for a short horticulture course which overall was good and learnt alot in several weeks, considering was unwell for a week or so I didn't feel left behind and was supported by the lecturer. When I first arrived I did get lost and didn't have my confirmation email of various details. I feel like there should be more signage on getting to the campus reception building, everytime I would search the college on maps it would take me to the farm. However lovely farm animals and plants of the surrounding areas."
"Awful college! teachers don’t check in on pupils when the don’t attended for weeks on end if pupils are ill and haven’t contacted the collage. I was struggling and falling behind I had exam rules in place because I have a ehcp I got no help whatsoever not even extra time which was appalling. I was meant to have extra time a reader and scribe, rest breaks none of this was given to me let alone acknowledged even when I kept telling them i should have it in place nothing was done. I was also meant to be in my own room for reasons they did not do this. I had no extra support which is what I was meant to have legally in my ehcp. Teachers let us leave early all the time they would always turn up late and tell us more about there life than the work we needed to get done. The counsellor wasn’t very supportive and didn’t understand my struggles at all the things that were said made me worse. Sadly I failed my course due to no follow up or help. I wasn’t able to reschedule my exams when I want able to make it they knew this well in advance but did nothing. I was led a stray. The collage was a lonely place where I had no support it felt gloomy and run down. I wasted a year of my life here and hardly learnt anything. It was a place I felt alone and unsupported"
"The farm is a nice place as it is a great environment to learn in and has a variety of farm animals for students to learn first hand experiences with. However, the actual college is run down especially the part of the college which is located behind the stadium as it is graffiti covered and bleak. In addition to this, I would say that the majority of the students that attend this college don’t seem to be taking the courses seriously which is a real shame as I feel that some of the students are hindered by other student’s actions. In my opinion I believe that an animal care qualification maybe better achieved through taking biology at a different college or through an apprenticeship somewhere else."
