"The brunch is great. Imagination and flare makes it a treat, with homemade jams and curds. Compliments to the chef Gareth, and the staff who made us feel very welcome. We will be back to try the evening menu!"
"After winning a food challenge at the Tally Ho in Winchburgh (beat me, if you can) I got a £25 voucher for Hemingway’s. Yesterday my wife and I decided to go here for lunch and use my voucher. We checked the brunch menu online and it looked very good. Surprisingly, the restaurant was very quiet. In fact we were the only ones there. The place is luxuriously decorated with many instagramable spots. After wondering around to see if anyone was in (apart from the chefs in the kitchen), we were greeted by a friendly lady. She provided us with the menu and we sat on the comfortable sofa. The menu provided was different from the brunch one on the website but apparently they are experimenting with a new dinner menu and would like feedback before it goes live next week. It didn’t bother us because the menu still looked very nice and unique. Since they are small plates we chose 4 dishes and the lovely waitress, kindly, gave us a 5th dish (the mushroom arancini) for free because it’s a new dish and they desired some feedback. The waitress also provided excellent recommendations on the menu. We went with the sourdough toast with pumpkin seed butter, haggis Bon Bons, the mushroom arancini, the hake and the chicken kebab. All were served in intervals, as everything was cooked fresh, and presented immaculately. My favourite was the arancini which was one of the recommendations. It was incredibly delicious and flavourful. It is presented with lots of Parmesan on top which my wife dislikes so I basically had them all to myself. The other dishes were also very good. The hake came with a curry sauce which had an almost zesty taste which was quite different. We also both loved the bread and pumpkin butter. However, we didn’t learn until afterward that it wasn’t sourdough as the supplier (bakers across the road) was closed so the chef made soda bread instead. Fortunately the soda bread was fantastic, with like a sponge like texture. Although, for best practice, I’d recommend that the diners are informed of the change in the menu prior to them ordering. Overall, the we had a fab time here. The food is at high quality at fair prices. As I said the restaurant is amazingly decorated and even the toilets are lavish. The gents have buckets for emptying your bladder in which is very quirky. The location is also excellent as it’s right on the main road right next to the river. We will definitely be back."
"There are a LOT of beautiful bars in Leith, but this one is special. The two Daniel's that work there are super nice gentlemen. The Maltese Daniel is better looking (this advertisement was sponsored by Maltese Daniel Inc) But seriously... great cocktails and amazing ambiance. If you're in Leith, don't miss it or you're a RADGE."
"Genuinely great experience. Very cosy and intimate atmosphere. Charming and down to earth staff, helped recommended drinks and explain the menu. Great selection of both classic, and original cocktails. The portion sizes were quite small but that's more than made up for in the quality of ingredients and taste and still left feeling pleasantly full. Although it felt like eating at a fancy restaurant, the bill was very reasonable. Will definitely be going back."
