Reviews of Experience Scotland's Wild
"My friend and I took the 1-day Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park Tour from Balloch on September 15th and had a wonderful time. I cannot say enough good things about John. One never knows how spending the day with a "stranger" will go, but it felt more like spending the day with a comfortable friend showing us his favorite places. John was personable, easy-going, and full of knowledge about the area and some of the stories that go along with it. The day was a great combination of driving and hiking up to see wonderful views. I highly recommend Scotland's Wild, and in fact I so enjoyed the day that my dream is now to return to Scotland some day with my family and spend a week touring the country with a trip organized by John of Scotland's Wild."
"Such an incredible tour of the Highlands! My husband and I loved that we could get out of the tour van and hike the Highlands. The scenery is spectacular; however, John's information about the history of the Highlands took the tour to the next level. We ended up doing two more tours: Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park with wonderful hiking and awe-inspiring views; also did the Standing Stones tour and Inverarary Castle, and through John we learned so much about the people and past of Scotland. We had traveled throughout Europe in August and the tours through Scotland's Wild were the best we experienced. We will be returning!"
"We went with John, and for part of the trip his fellow guide Derek, for ten days in in May – June 2022. I can say that the experience that Scotland’s Wild provided was first rate. I had never travelled this way before, and had some trepidation as to whether I would like the “tour thing”, envisioning being herded on and off of a bus; but what I experienced here was great. A few high points: • John is very knowledgeable, with a wealth of out-of-the-way sites that he took us to. I especially appreciated going to the Neolithic locations; it’s interesting to think that Picts and Vikings walked over these structures, saying to themselves: “Wow! This looks old!” I will add that where he may not know as much about a particular location, he works hard to research it to be ready…. a good example was the work he did in finding out about the neighborhood that my Grandfather lived in in Dundee before his family and he emigrated. • John is also very accommodating. Our group was large and mixed, being composed of two family groups (from two traditionally warring clans at that!); he happily worked to find locations of interest and family significance to both, as well as many others that we had no idea even existed. Shoot, he was even willing to take us into enemy territory, seeing locations in (gasp!) northern England! We were also a group of disparate interests, ages and ability levels, and he worked very hard to accommodate this. His accommodation of my elderly mother was especially marvelous to see; he, and Derek, very much went out of their way to make sure she was well taken care of. • Finally, I would say that the physical arrangements were great. The places we stayed in were eclectic and definitely had character; but there were a number that were especially marvelous – a castle, a couple of amazing B&Bs, an old and classy railway hotel just to name a few. Considering that we had instructed him to keep accommodations modest, what he was able to provide within these parameters was fantastic. • Oh, and finally-finally … only John in our group was able to lift the Manhood Stone …. I think that that speaks for itself. Overall I would highly recommend Scotland’s Wild."
"This was our 2nd trip with John and it was 2 weeks of new adventures and epic scenery. Two weeks traveling around with your 'best friend' who organizes perfectly and takes care of EVERYTHING! All we have to do is show up. The fun just happens!"
"We spent two weeks with John and his team, experiencing Scotland in the most wonderful way. John was extremely organized, knowledgeable, pleasant, and fun. We went on hikes, saw dozens of insanely cool historical sites, and stayed in the most lovely places. The age range of our tour was 23-78 years old, and the team accommodated everyone's energy levels and desires. I'm not kidding, this is the best tour group imaginable. If you're thinking of taking a big bus tour, I urge you to reconsider. Going with Scotland's Wild, you will see and do more than you could ever do with another company or on your own."
