"Utter joke. Reception staff are extremely rude (apart from the man). I received a letter today dated for a week and a half ago to get a phone consultation arranged with my doctor. Instead of just phoning me directly (which is another story entirely). I just got off the phone with an extremely rude, condescending English women, who tells me that you have to phone in at 8am on the dot to get an appointment even though they themselves instructed me to get a PHONE CONSULTATION! For another, I was number 1 in the queue for 7 minutes, and then I was diverted to a second queue (that I imagine is the actual queue). Also, they have cancelled my prescriptions several times even after recent review of said medication, causing me time and money going to go get a prescription that does not exist, and frankly putting immense stress on the staff at the pharmacy who often have to try deal with it and get the backslash. Absolutely ridiculous. This all isn't even the first time. I was also once intergated by a trainee receptionist as to "why I'm here" when I was instructed by my doctor at the time to come down in person and have a quick chat about my test results. So I was interegated infront of a crowd of people behind me about sensitive information. My mother has a number of these appalling interactions with receptionists at this surgery too, as well as a few incidences of heartless, rude, and downright malicious doctors. If you are in this surgery I implore you to move surgeries. If you are considering registering I would tell you to run the other way."
"There's lots of justified criticism of this surgery - particularly with regards to the phone/appointment system and the fact that, after 30 minutes they close the lines for their daily staff meeting (why not just have it before they open the phones!?) However, my issues are with the system, not the hardworking staff who are the face of it. Every time I go for an appointment the waiting room is full of patients, people are queued up to speak to a receptionist (presumably because of frustrations with not getting through on the phone - there's an electronic self check in) and I've always found most staff extremely caring. Something to be aware of is, anecdotally, through speaking to gp staff in various practices and who I see sitting in the waiting rooms, there's been a huge increase in the number of children needing GP treatment as they haven't had the same opportunity to build up their immune systems and reo personal experience, people with underlying conditions are being hit particularly hard with unusual bugs. They're doing the best they can given the circumstances."
"I have been on hold now since 08:32 when I was 9th in the queue, to get down to number 1! I was then told that staff have training or meeting from 09:00-09:15 I stayed on the line, its now 09:27 and it is still ringing!"
"AVOID you CANNOT get an appointment. Phone is engaged from 8:30 straight through to 9 when they then turn them off for a meeting. Then later in the day 3pm you are told all calls are finished for the day. When I DID manage to get an appointment (for my wife) 3 WEEKS LATER. she was told she wasn't on the system"
"Phone system is a three part and took 25 mims to get through, a bit frustrating. Receptionist was very helpful and caring, I gave me an appointment with Senior Nurse Practitioner for 2 hours later. She was excellent, not rushed and gave me a complete and professional examination, covering all possibilities. Felt very reassured by her diagnosis and would be 100 percent happy to be seen by her again. Thank you."
