Reviews of Holland Park School
"A few years ago I gave a 5 star review and it’s now been demoted to 2. My daughter who is in year 10 is dreadfully unhappy here. There is a massive turn over in staff; whenever I have brought an issue up over the welfare of my daughter no one gets back to me; the teachers do not know how to control the students and as a result the more well behaved students get ignored. I had high hopes for this place but not anymore. A real shame"
"As free education goes in the western world, this is a pretty average and decent educational establishment with a wide variety of subjects intertwined with casual British propaganda, after school clubs and during school bullying. Like most free education, there is room to improve and it holds no ground compared to establishments such as Montessori, but it's also better than most offered around the world."
"This school has the culture of a prison from what I have seen. Some of the admin staff are just awful, and the same goes for a number of the teachers. But what do I know about these things? Well, my three children went there for a few years, before they mercifully left, and I have been a tutor all my life, so I have considerable experience of what makes a good or bad school, and you only have to look at the missives from the head teacher to see the pretentious nature of this place - they are very very good at marketing themselves, and their building looks just great, but the reality inside that building is quite the opposite. Beware this school."
"My daughter is in year 7 and absolutely loves the school. The teachers are focused and dedicated, discipline is very good and it's obvious the management always strives to improve. An excellent school and would recommend highly!"
"To judge a school you have to know its history. As someone who knew what this school was like before I can say it made 180 degree transformation. It has been transformed from one of the worst schools in the neighborhood to one that is competing with the best schools in England. That doesn't meant there is no room for improvement. It is true the school has a corporate feel to it. It need to worm up to some of parents concerns. Whatever its shortcomings no body can question the dedication of the headteacher and the staff. It should be a good example for the rest of secondary schools especially in London."
