Reviews of Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life
"Came to Summerlee via Coatbridge - very strange how there is no signposting in the town after you come off the motorway? Not everyone has GPS... Had a lovely visit at the museum with interesting exhibits and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend to visitors of all ages and abilities, everything is very accessible, including for wheelchairs and invisible disabilities. A suggestion : it would be good have more historical and touristy gifts available in the shop instead of so many children's toys that you could buy anywhere. Summerlee is unique, be proud of that!"
"On a nice sunny day like today this was a perfect place to visit. Entrance to the museum is free. Taking a ride on the tram from 1904 was only £1.50 and worth every penny. The café serves good coffee and very tasty cakes. Walk along the canal and say hello to the swans. This, I think, is well worth a visit!"
"Great day out. Lots to see and do. Highly recommend. The highlight for me was the different eras like the 1980s all the way back to 1880. Our nephew loved it too and enjoyed playing in the playpark and getting a toy from the gift shop. There is a cafe also which is great. Tasty food and inexpensive."
"This place always amazes me whenever we visit and I have taken the kids from when they were wee to even now. My son was mesmerized by the activities there. We have been on the tram ride and have had a lovely wander around the trail. There is if course a play area for the kids. The observation area is beautifully designed. All in all, if you want to spend some quality time with the kids marvelling at the wonders of the industry that once stood here, a must visit. 5 stars !"
"Only recently discovered this place so took my nephew's along for a day out. Tram was unfortunately not running but was great to learn about the history. The play park was greatly loved by my nephew's and the cafe was extremely clean, organised and very cheap! Free parking is a big bonus too."
