"The room was very big and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, modern with a very powerful shower. The decor is very dark which makes lighting very poor. This is a personal thing and other visitors may like the subdued lighting. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection of foods. It was all beautifully presented and cooked. The hotel is perfectly situated for shopping and dining."
"A gorgeous hotel in a perfect location of Edinburgh. It is on Saint Andrews Square right next to the starting point of Edinburgh bus tours. The location is probably the best in the city. The rooms are large and comfy with beautiful decor and red notes everywhere (similar to Chateau Malmaison in France). The only downside is the lighting in the bedroom is a bit dark. The breakfast had a great selection and the service was good but it could of been better."
"The interior design of the hotel is beautiful and fun. The bedroom is comfortable size wise. However the light in the room and bathroom is too dark for doing make-up. The breakfast and dinner are lovely in their restaurants, but was very disappointed and unforgettable by a waitress’ unprofessional customer services."
"We booked back in April for October so well in advance but when we arrived one room was on floor 9 and the other was on 3. This is odd as the paper work we signed stated rooms 907 and 804. We also paid for birthday decorations which included a card this also said room 804 on the back, then scribbled out and replaced with 311. When we enquired about the rooms we were told immediately that room 907 was the club deluxe we paid for but when it came to 311 the member of staff hesitated and had to call a manager over to confirm. This is incredibly suspicious considering how quick he was able to confirm 907. Now for the room itself, 907 was a very large room with an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows allowing in tonnes of natural light and providing breath taking views of Edinburgh city, exactly what we'd expect from the second most expensive room in the building. 311 on the other hand was average sized, seemed to be almost connected with the neighbouring room, with a pillar in the middle of the natural walkway. At the other end of the room, there was a tiny space for a window where it seemed as if part of the neighbouring room encroached into our own, with a single normal window, allowing in such little light that one side of the room remained completely dark even in the middle of the day, unless we switched a light on. The view also, was just as disappointing. We were gifted with the view of a bin riddled alley, smokers corner for the building across and road works. Absolutely disgraceful for the second most expensive room you have to offer, even more so considering we paid the exact same amount as the other room (907) in our booking and we booked well in advance. Speaking as the couple who were seemingly downgraded without explanation or compensation, I find it baffling that we paid for club deluxe; £517 (+ £20 for the birthday decorations which only included 2 banners which were on the floor and 2 balloons with a card and 3 chocolates), for these 2 nights. The exact same as the couple in a far superior room 907, only to be insulted with a room on a floor below reception and views of bins and road works."
