"Staff in the Acute Medical Unit were excellent. Kind and compassionate and a great resource in my dad’s final days. Thank you so much everyone."
"My GP phoned Edinburgh royal infirmary on Monday 20th march, to speak to the on call neurosurgeon, was asked to go through. All staff nurses, receptionists and the neurosurgeon, unfortunately cannot remember his name was charming and so lovely, considering how anxious I was. Just fantastic."
"Spent nearly 2 weeks in with my wife. Staff are amazing and always willing to help. Acceptable level of amenities inside. Canteen, shops and an M&S that is open until midnight. Vending machines readily available. Fairly pricy but they're vending machines. Always clean and well taken care of. Even though it wasn't the best circumstances I was in hospital, not worrying about hospital related issues helped. Staff are noticeably overworked but they don't let this get in the way of the quality of care. Ward was spotless along with the private room we were in. A very pleasant experience indeed."
"Great drop-off service! Brought my father in law to fix a hernia, and to say he couldn't wait would be an understatement, of course the delays may be frustrating but the NHS survives despite a Tory government that try their best to destroy it. Didn't get a chance to sample the famous bacon rolls in the café, but they do a grand job keeping both staff and visitors fed and hydrated. The nursing staff were attentive and looked after him having to stay the night due to the after effects of the general anesthesia but I wouldn't let this affect my overall score. Seriously though, the doctors and nurses of this country are unappreciated, undervalued, and unfortunately underpaid. You cannot begin to understand how important the NHS is until you or your loved ones need it. We must ensure the survival of this great system survives. Of course, in a way I hope to have to not return any time soon."
"Something was found on a scan and I decided better to get rid soonest. Was given a date within a week, attended the pre-op assessment on Tuesday, admitted on Wednesday, had the procedure on Thursday, HDU on Friday until sent to the ward around 4pm, met the guys in the room, got great service from the staff, Spent a really comfortable night and given all the pain relief I needed, and was discharged on Saturday afternoon, tired but happy. No, they didn't kick me out to get the bed, I was asked if I felt that I was able to go home. There was no pressure to leave. Brilliant staff, and despite the comment from one person on here, nurses CANNOT discharge patients; it is done through a doctor. All required painkillers, laxatives, etc were put in a bag with an explanatory document along with a letter for my GP. Wards 102/112 thank you. You were great. I cannot praise these wonderful people highly enough."
