Reviews of The Gin Company
"Firstly, I'd like to say if you're looking for the cheapest gin then this isn't the place for you. BUT, if you're after something you will really enjoy, expert advice & guidance along with an extensive range of information along with gins that are common place to small, locally produced then pop in! Personally, I think its better spending your money on something you will enjoy (and sample to make sure). Friendly, knowledgeable staff makes this place a great place to bob in and treat yourself to a new gin/whiskey/vodka"
"The place is a dream for Gin lovers. You can find from commercial to only produced and distributed Gins in Edinburg. The staff is really nice and they guide you if you are not sure what to buy."
"Came by the shop in 2019 as a tourist visiting the UK for a week. We were staying at The Scotsman and just happened to be walking by and I decided to stop in and grab a bottle of something unique and special that I could bring back stateside to enjoy as a consumable memento of the trip. Couldn't be happier or have expected more from the service and warm welcome we received. The divine being behind the counter I spoke with was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful in picking out something to mark the occasion. I purchased an amazing "Auld Tam" (old tom) style 500cL bottle from a local Edinburgh distillery Holyrood. The best gin I've ever had. I still have about half the bottle as I only drink it on occasion to savor it for as long as possible. If I could give more stars I would! I'll definitely be coming back by when I get a chance!"
"The day before I was very well advised by a young man in "Whiskey and Wine" (only a few meters further on High Street). Since this shop is not good without the seller, I just went to the gin store to buy a bottle of whiskey for a friend from the same seller. In addition to whiskey and gin, there is also rum and vodka here. And the entire staff is very friendly, competent and courteous."
"I wouldn’t recommend this place because while having a nice variation, the prices for the gin here are about 20 to 30% higher than they are at the local distilleries (Pickerings and Edinburgh Gin), supermarkets or other stores. I bought a gin here and once I noticed that the price was way higher than anywhere else, I went back only to be informed that there is no refund policy, only an exchange of value (what doesn’t help when everything is more expensive). Therefore, I’d recommend gin-lovers to either go to the local distilleries directly as they aren’t far from old town, have shops and often a nice tour, or compare prices closely while shopping."
