Reviews of Huyton Wetlands
"I haven't been for 2 years but the site definitely rewards the summer visitor. I found the grasslands had been sown with wild flower mixes and the bogs had their fair share of attractive flowers; some, pure water side dwellers too. The pity was much of the site between boardwalks was impenetrable from June onwards due to bramble."
"Just a soggy walkway surrounded by trees in Winter. But have a feeling it will be much better and there'll be lots of wildlife to see in Summer."
"Although some of river alt is overgrown, needs clearing and platform for sitting looks a little dangerous requiring attention. The rest was full of lively wild flowers flukers lane near there off Knowsley lane was amazing with log art carved and log seat...beautiful nature tracks...hidden pathways leading to hidden history 200yr old square well further on again via path behind farm feild where you can see Stockbridge flats over distance as point of reference. Paths vary in direction...going to croxteth or one goes to west Derby...all sign posted fabulous"
"Quite a small area, but there are numerous paths to go down. There is a large variety of insects, fish and frogs but little animal life, which is understandable due to the vegetation. It okay for about half an hour, but after that you will have probably covered the whole location. I certainly wouldn't recommend this for those who don't want to explore the area or are just wanting to walk through as a shortcut, because of the typically muddy pathways. It's best if one wears disposable clothing whilst visiting Huyton Wetlands, especially during the winter months or foul weather."
"Like a green and damp Silverstone race circuit for druggy scruffy motorcyclists that look like Foxy Cleopatra off Austin Powers Goldmember wearing the latest North face tracky bottoms with added pot burns. Shame really as it could be a wildlife hotspot were decent people could enjoy it."
