Homebase - Hamilton (including Bathstore) Unit 10 Palace Grounds Road, Hamilton ML3 6AD

"I have just recently arrived back home after my visit to Homebase in Hamilton. Where do I start? I was in looking for oil based gloss paint and couldn't find what i was looking for, unknown to me the wording oil based would not appear on paint tin. I made my way to the help/advice desk the lady asked me if I had looked for it, i said yes but could i get some help as i was still unsure if i was picking the correct paint. After an uncomfortable silence the lady radioed someone to meet me at paint section. The female customer services assistant approached me at the paint section and asked what I required, i said I was looking for oil based gloss paint but couldn't find it. This led to being spoken to like a child, the person started spinning tins around the shelf with a speed gesturing to the back of the tin, glaring at me as if I should have known. This led to an extensive, rushed lecture on the differences between certain paints making me feel very embarrassed for asking for help. I am not an expert in paint and the differences between them, I thought that was the role of customer service...... to help I certainly did not feel like this lady helped me at all but rather made me feel stupid and upset at the way I had been patronised and that I had been the biggest inconvenience of her day. I Have to say lady at counter where I bought paint was lovely as always and looked embarrassed at her colleagues actions although she didn't say so. I feel that this lady who made me feel this way should attend a course on how to treat customers as this may have an impact on whether people return to the store in the future if she continues to treat customers like this.. I would be very shocked if this was a isolated incident involving this person. I work in a customer service role for Scotrail and i would never dream of treating a person like this."

"Super friendly staff, I went looking for some timber for a project and asked some advice on the best way to do it. The fella had done something similar and showed me pictures of his project (which looked very impressive) this gave me ideas for the future when I have skilled up plus super friendly till staff. Was just the right amount of assistance whilst allowing me time to pick and choose for myself."

"This store has one of the most pleasant sales assistants on the tills that I've ever encountered. Always bubbly, smiling, and very sociable! Pity there aren't more people like her in the retail world."

"Wouldn't say good or bad. Always seems they are shutting down. I know they had their fair share of trouble a few years ago with the American company buying them for £1 but don't know if they ever recovered. Staff though second to none. Always a smil3 and offering to keep the queues down"

"Many of the things that are displayed were not in STOCK, if it's not in stock and don't know if they will have it again why do you leave it displayed? To receive service I had to call and wait for the goodwill of the seller. I didn't like the service this time."
