About Thomson's Bar
Welcome to Thomson's Bar, a beloved institution located in the heart of historic Edinburgh. Since its establishment in 1820, our bar has been a favorite meeting place for locals and travelers alike. Conveniently located on Morrison Street, we are easily accessible and situated near numerous points of interest such as Haymarket train station and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
Upon entering, you'll be greeted by our friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. As a traditional Scottish pub, we offer a wide range of beverages to suit all tastes, including various beers on tap, an extensive selection of spirits, and delicious cocktails. Our proud Scottish heritage is reflected throughout the bar, with tartan-clad bartenders, Scottish music played regularly, and memorabilia adorning the walls.
If you're feeling peckish, stop by for a tasty bite to eat. Our menu features classic pub fare, such as fish and chips, haggis, neeps & tatties, and our famous Thomson's burger. We also have daily specials, including vegetarian and vegan options, to satisfy every appetite.
At Thomson's Bar, we believe that the bar is more than just a place to grab a drink; it's a place to connect, socialize, and create memories. That's why we have several events throughout the week, including pub quizzes, live music, and sports screenings, to ensure that there's always something happening. Our comfortable seating areas, including cozy booths and a heated outdoor terrace, make for the perfect ambiance for any gathering.
Whether you're visiting Edinburgh for the first time, or are a long-time local, Thomson's Bar is a must-visit establishment, and we can't wait to welcome you.

Reviews of Thomson's Bar
"Had a drink here on Saturday night. 3 of us Irish supports felt unwelcome. Came back on the Sunday evening as it was close to our hotel and was refused entry. Said it was full first off then I looked through the window and seen it wasn't. Then they said they are catching up on cleaning glasses. Cleary don't want irish people there."
"Popped in for a couple jars after the rugby nice wee bar very old school good staff enjoyable beer"
"Nice decor. Well maintained. For four stars, I would want to see a premium beer from Germany. Like Paulaner or Ayinger. Something everyone else doesn't have."
"Warm and comfortable old pub a short stroll from the Old Town. Really great range of beer and well served. Excellent pint of a classic pale ale, Scapa Special, from the Swannay Brewery on Orkney. Very quiet at lunchtime, strangely, not sure where everyone was."
