Reviews of The Coconut Tree Bristol, Clifton Triangle
"We had an amazing time on a Tuesday night at The Coconut Tree. We made sure to order couple of different dishes so we could try numerous of amazing flavours. All the dishes had lot’s of taste and all of them were very pretty nice! We also enjoyed our drinks and definitely our dessert! Worth a visit! Also worth mentioning, it was great value for money! And the staff were extremely kind."
"Eye-popping decor and tasty, optimally seasoned food. As a vegan, I was especially pleased that most of the menu catered for my dietary preferences. Portion-wise, food was deceptively filling (which is a good thing!) As for service, I have to lob off one star as the waiting flagged halfway through our stay as service got busier. We were ready to order dessert, but nobody was around to take the order, which was a bit disappointing. In that respect, it might be better to visit earlier in the day before peak hours. Nevertheless, I'd recommend this place to newcomers or those curious to try Sri Lankan street food."
"Fabulois Sri Lankan food. Mainly vegan. Great value for tasty food and funky cocktails. Superb service too. Please o0en some in London soon."
"I hate to leave a negative review, but I'm afraid I can only say that this was a truly disappointing that experience. Our squash curry and another curry (I can't remember the name because it was so forgettable) clearly had the same bland base sauce. The pineapple curry was very sweet and uninspiring, while the hopper was so so. Our service was good, but I'm sorry to say that this was not enough to replace quality food, nor an enjoyable experience"
"Fantastic food, cocktails and super friendly staff. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome. As first time customers we had everything explained to us as we were seated. The staff gave us tips on how to order the food and dishes that they recommended. They were talkative and made you feel comfortable. The decore of the place is pretty and cosy, with window seats and cushions on benches. Pretty wall decorations and a bar. The food is in the traditional style of Sri Lanka. A wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options as well as a rage of different meat options. They also cater well to allergies. You get food in Tapas style dishes so would recommend getting 4 or 5 dishes to share (that would be enough for 3 or 4 people. All dishes were bursting with flavour but would recommend the lamb curry, stone pot pork and fat sister (a pumpkin and pandan leaf curry) We had a fantastic rum cocktail that involved our waiter setting the top on fire upon arrival, very impressive! Will definitely be back!"
