"First time I used this company last week as my washing machine was leaking and recommended by a friend, from my first call to them had a lovely guy explain what it could be and he arranged for a engineer to come next day and he did with all the equipment and turns out needed a new door seal which he had brought. Excellent customer service from start to finish, will definitely use them again."

"I had a tumble dryer failure, with the drum not turning or drying the laundry, just after New Year. The first "trusted trader" I tried to get said he could not do the work and referred me to Wallace's instead. Their engineer turned up on time, scoped the house, spun the drum, never even pulled out the machine or took the lid off, and said it's broken beyond repair. He tried to immediately sell me a new machine at a verbal quote which turned out later to be £90 over-priced (compared to John Lewis, including installation/uplift) and very under-spec compared to mine, and tried to arrange uplift of my old high-spec dryer. I did some research on his proposal after he left; did not like what I discovered; phoned the shop and cancelled the deal and got my credit card refunded. Now suspicious, and unfortunately for him I know a bit about engineering and machinery, I checked the dryer again. The drum rotation felt normal to me. I pulled it out myself, took the lid off and found that the drive belt was very obviously loose, frayed and broken. The bearings were fine. Their engineer was either utterly incompetent or trying to scam me. I engaged a different Lothian appliance repair company instead. They came out and confirmed the drive belt failure, said there was nothing else wrong with the dryer, and said that the belt failing is the commonest dryer problem. (Wallace's man must have known this). They obtained a new one for about £40 and replaced the belt, and now the dryer works fine again. That saved me many hundreds of pounds. If Wallace's man had uplifted my old dryer, he could have done the same repair easily himself and then sold it second-hand at a tidy profit. I phoned Wallace's to complain and got the £40 call-out charge refunded. No apology or explanation of their engineer's behaviour was given. This is a genuine story. They are not a trust-worthy company in my experience and I recommend that you steer clear of them."

"I phoned Wallace’s to ask if an engineer could look at my fridge freezer, they were too busy so recommended Perry. He arrived the next day but unfortunately he couldn’t repair it but… He did repair my main oven which hasn’t worked for 6 yrs! I was so pleased. Great service, well mannered and professional! "I paid for a callout, quoting dishwasher error number. Engineer arrived, said it wasn't something he could repair and I should contact manufacturer. I suggested he at least have a look at the machine but he said no point as he knew the fault was serious. He said he could arrange for a new machine to be delivered. After he'd gone, I had another look inside the machine and tightened the drain/filter cap. The dishwasher is now working. I rang Wallaces and asked why I had to pay £40 when the engineer came out knowing what was wrong, didn't even look at the machine and I had got it going myself. No reaction."
