Thornbury Castle Hotel & Restaurant

"Everything! My boyfriend booked a surprise two night dinner bed and breakfast. It was so romantic staying in the castle. The chef must have Michelin stars, as the food was exquisite. The staff were so accommodating. We were upgraded to the Catherine Howard suit due to a fault with the shower. It was incredible!! Highly recommend"

"We were given a Sunday lunch gift from our two children at Thornbury Castle. Thornbury is a about 30 miles from where we live so we were aware of Thornbury but never visited. It is charming. Getting there was easy however could do with some signage for the castle we went through the town centre 3 times trying to locate the venue!. The hassle ,however ,was so worth it,. The castle and grounds are delightful, shame it was raining, but we did manage a walk around the grounds which are well cared for with useful commentary boards. The service at lunch was exceptional,polite, attentive, but not not intrusive. The food absolutely wonderful. Opted for the beef roast which was cooked to perfection. A great outing We plan to return... soon fancy the afternoon tea next time! Thankyou Thornbury Castle!"

"We went for a gift of afternoon tea. We had a lovely time. The place is very nice inside and the gardens are beautiful too. The service was good. Staff helpful. The food was presented well. I would recommend. Though all afternoon tea's are very expensive."

"There are not many places I would give 10/5 stars, but this one is it. It's above and beyond best place I've ever stayed in. Better than Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. It's absolutely phenomenal. I'd sing their praises more but there is a character limit. The staff are amazing. The decor is ridiculous. It's a freaking legit castle made into a hotel. The restaurant should have a Michelin star but somehow doesn't. The price to stay should be 2x and I would still gladly pay it. They have a drink at the bar called Headless Mary, and it's the best variation on Bloody Mary I've ever had. Made with their own infused gin. The only possible gripe I have is the wine pairing with their tasting menu was not quite the best match, but I am stretching here. Literally the best stay ever and we will certainly be back."
