"I have recently returned from a Sailchecker holiday around the Saronic sea in Greece. Before I left I had no idea what to expect, having only been on a boat once or twice before. It was an incredible adventure, far surpassed any of my expectations and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone. Although we went in October when it is cooling down the weather was still beautiful most days. There were was an exception; an evening where we docked in a bay and watched a stunning storm outside with thunder and lightning only to wake up to sunshine. The final day had sunshine in the morning breaking into a storm, however when both catamaran skippers expertly navigated our ships through to dock safely and without issue. Apart from that the weather was perfect, warm enough for a t shirt and swimming. The boat itself was stunning and the eating area had the feeling of being outside, all areas were kitted out and there were solar panels on the roof deck. Each day we docked in a new and exciting port or bay, chosen by the crew from their expansive knowledge, we visited Poros, Aegina, Hydra (the new Mykonos by all accounts) and a stunning bay in Dokos. All of the places were beautiful in and of themselves, and getting there by sea to stunning vistas made it even better. We had many swimming sessions some in the rain, watched sunsets at cliff top bars and beaches and generally enjoyed the beautiful Greek coastlines. At Dokos there was snorkelling and the skipper agreed to let me go up the mast in the bosan chair which was a highlight as it gave 360 views of surrounding sea and islands and a beautiful sky. The food on board was incredible. For the first three days there was a professional chef who made stunning spreads to suit all members of the party, particularly memorable is a lamb shoulder with cous cous and gooey chocolate brownie. For the second half of the week the food was still incredible, including Greek salads and souvlaki. There was the option to get involved with sailing and docking of the boat, which was a lot of fun, there were several experienced members of the crew who were familiar with sailing and happy to share their knowledge and answer my constant questions with patience. I really enjoyed the teamwork of tying lines and watching the horizon whilst helping to steer (under supervision). However other days people were happy just to relax on deck and nothing was expected. This was a great balance because my knowledge was limited but enthusiasm high. On offshore trips as a group we often shared food which was lovely and really welcoming. I could not have hoped to go with a better group of people. The best part of the trip was how hard the crew involved worked to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone, and how seamless and unforced this felt in practice. All in all a magical trip and one I would recommend."
