Reviews of Ikigai Ramen Southbridge
"I had an amazing foodie experience here! I came here for the Ramen as I heard it was great. I also tried a few of their side dishes and they were incredible! I had the Tonkotsu ramen, Takoyaki balls and some pork gyoza. The vibe/atmosphere of the place was great! Cozy, welcoming. The staff were also very friendly and explained the menu to me very well!"
"Apparently this place has been opened only since about May 2022 with the original parent restaurant further up the road in Causewayside. Despite this being predominantly a ramen place, we has a mix of non ramen dishes. We were not disappointed. The chicken karaage at £6.50 were generous portions. Quick service. Friendly service."
"Ramen was really good, although a bit too salty. Service was lacking: it was well before closing time (20 minutes at least) and we had servers cleaning all around our table and storing chairs on top of other tables while we were eating. Moreover, we couldn’t use the restroom because they were cleaning it for the night."
"I do not expect much for ramen outside Japan, and I did have some really bad ramen in Edinburgh and other cities in the UK. Ikigai Ramen did fulfill my expectation for a reasonable standard of ramen, which is not common here. The broth has always been the most essential element to determine the quality of ramen, and that I had at Ikigai, the tonkotsu which is made from pork bone, was rich and flavourful. Sides include pork belly, which was barbecued and tender, and a really soft and runny egg. Noodles were fine, definitely not the best texture I have had but again I won’t set a high bar for that in the UK. However the small bites were just average. I found the takoyaki strange as it came deep-fried. I was not sure if that is deliberately fried or simply a failed dish, anyway that was not the way a takoyaki should be. And the karaage chicken was too dry and the batter not really well made. I would return for the ramen only."
"This place has delicious ramen noodles ever. I loved the pork gyoza, spicy siracha fries and spicy teriyaki tesabaki as well. The customer service was great. The price is very affordable compared to so many other restaurants. Would visit here again and again."
