"One of the BEST places I’ve tried in Scotland by far! Staff was so friendly, super helpful, the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant I’ve been to in a while. Food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! right size and perfect portions. Stand up ovation for their Celentano’s Mary (would recommend spice level 8)"
"We dined upstairs and loved the vibe and atmosphere. We chose the chef's menu and it was a great selection. Not too much food and the right amount of variety you would expect. Great service as well! Didn't realize where they got their name until looking at my pics after we left (see photo)."
"Been here with booking via email. team quite nice to help out on same day reservation. But dinning experience quite not meet out expectation - Serving all stuff in same time on very very small table. then asking to clear up main dishes since no space left to eat just a plate of bread. -Asking to serve Mains, but ending up with Oily pasta which look like reheated but not proper handling which oils was separated out and serve it ! -Meals are not well seasoning. Slow cooked beef is very very salty. Potatoes is very less seasoning also with Pasta. it end-up with my self seasoning -Asking salt and pepper but they bring-up empty a pepper bottle without checking. -Potatoes look like left-over pieces which served the edge pieces. not same as restaurant shown images or other upper-restaurants as I seen Totally experience with listed as Michelin bib gourmand restaurant quite lower than expected."
"Really nice Italian place. Not a pasta place although they did have one or two dishes. They have a vegetarian menu which was really helpful, and quite a few chooses! Agnolotti was my favourite, carrots were nice but wouldn’t say it’s a main course dish. Also would love to see more deserts in the menu! Overall definitely worth a visit, as you will find a lot of non standard Italian dishes, and not just pasta and pizza! Was around £45 pp with a bottle of wine and three courses"
"So the Cathedral House has completely changed into this beautiful modern Italian restaurant! The decor is contemporary, stylish but in keeping with the age of the building. The staff are absolutely lovely too. The food menu is quite limited in the style of proper foodie places, with some experimental combinations and unusual ingredients. I think I prefer my Italian food a little simpler, but I admire what they are trying to achieve. I was a little underwhelmed but the squid pasta, the agnolotti with squash was tasty but not perfect (the squash was a little harder than I would have liked it to be) and apparently the shin beef was had an aniseed star anise taste to it. The starter of smoked cod donut with kimchi (told you it was experimental) was amazing though. We didn’t have dessert so I can’t comment. The wine menu is fairly small but all good quality. Overall this would be a 4.5 if I could, but I’ve had to minus a whole given that the food was good but not all of it was great, and the meals are not cheap (£18 for a pasta main course). Saying that, I would recommend it and I will definitely be back as the menu changes on a weekly if not daily basis."
