"Great price for pet treatment for my dog check ups and vaccines are expensive but paying into this plan helps out and comes with some great benifits"
"If there were an option to give minus ten then that would be my rating for this practice. Why? So, my Mum's dog hadn't been feeling too well. By the time she rang me on a Saturday morning he was unable to rise from the floor and was screaming in pain. I went around immediately, picked him up and carried him to Rhyd Broughton, where we saw Andrew Bell and paid him to diagnose and provide a treatment plan to help our dog. His prognosis was that he would need an FMRI scan and surgery for 'Degenerative disk disease' (which is retarded to say the least as only a week prior he had been running around and bouncing all over the place). For some unknown reason he asked me to leave the room whilst he catheterised him (Which I had asked for as he hadn't weed for days) and then announced that he had administered without permission, NSAIDs, painkillers etc. When we got to the till we found a whole host of ridiculously overpriced medicines, that we never agreed to buy, waiting to be paid for. That MISdiagnosis and money drain cost £96 and more importantly, our dog time. The next few days was spent with me conducting my own investigations based on owner testimony and physical checks. It became apparent that my Mum's dog had in fact got cellulitis caused by an impalement on a fence some weeks prior. The swelling and discharge from his underside SHOULD have been a giveaway to a paid, fully competent veterinary professional. Moreover, to look someone in the eye and propose expensive, dangerous vertebral surgery based on an illogical assumption and no scans whatsoever is veterinary malpractice to say the least. So, armed with my own diagnosis and list of treatments I took our dog back, asking for surgery to remove the sebaceous cyst and swabs to be taken from one of the fistulas. Once in the reception, I asked not to see Andrew Bell (who came in with a big stupid grin on his face. Only God knows why). I then consulted with Laura and left our lad there for IV antibiotics and overnight care with this operation supposedly being carried out ASAP. I received a phone call the following morning telling me that our dog was too weak to have an operation and that euthanasia was his only option and strongly recommended (What, like I was going to say 'yes' over the phone?). I disagreed and told them to give me my dog back. Laura agreed to see me to discuss the option (and charged me for it). Upon arrival I found that euthanasia was the only subject open for discussion, and I was made to sign a declaration that I was taking him in spite of veterinary recommendations. The words 'cruel', unethical', and 'moral' were on that piece of paper that I glanced at, signed and began the rescue of our dog from the jaws of death. They had even left his IV drip capsule still in his leg to make the process of killing him faster and easier!! The only good thing to come from that was four more days of antibiotics. His right leg had doubled in size on account of them not keeping him mobile, AND they falsely believed that his willingness to be probed and show no pain was a sign of him being 'on his last legs'...(who knows their dog better? An owner or a stranger vet?). Okay...so, can any of you out there tell me how much I was charged for all of this bumbling incompetence? How much they expect me to pay them for basically nearly killing our 4yr old family dog and making him suffer more? How many phone calls I have received badgering me to 'pay the balance'? Letters demanding payment for hundreds of pounds, for basically making our dog suffer through WRONG initial diagnosis (Which would have saved us a week of ongoing infection) and then to keep him locked in a cell, surrounded by negativity and doom? Forward to a week on...our boy, under my care, is well on the road to recovery...I will put some pictures from only one week apart to show you the level of the crime that they wanted me to pay them to commit!! I have since sought a third opinion from a local competent vet who understands this situation well and has agreed to do the fistula biopsy (awaiting results)."
"My cat Sonny is very nervous and the vet we saw was ever so gentle and thoughtful throughout examination and treatment. Happy to say Sonny is back to his cheeky self again. Very happy customer."
"An amazing practice, highly recommended. A Vet team who really care, both for pets and owners! I've been taking my dogs here since 1996. Great advice and efficient service, right from the front line reception staff, to the vets and the backroom nursing staff. Fabulous emergency response, and also for everyday matters."
