Reviews of Sprotbrough Flash
"A nice pleasant walk along the canal. Best to park near the Boat Inn pub. There are some spaces just down from the crossing. There's 2 hides for viewing the reserve itself which are accessed from the path. But you can have a much longer stroll along the path either to Doncaster or to Conisbrough viaduct, Denaby Ings and further along the trans Pennine trail. Or you can go in a circuit like i did. Just stick to the trail and don't go over fields. Some steps in places PS I tried to get to where the old rail bridge goes over the road but some boulders have been dropped into the former rail cutting. So guess it's either no go or find another way in"
"Beautiful walk round the Sprotbrough Flash. I really enjoyed my time here and came across a man made railway/gorge used to transport quarried goods by train. It's a very long way down so be careful. Overall I give this place a 4/5 stars because although pretty, the train line next to the River Don is extremely noisy and disturbs the peace. In the photos attached are images I took of the old rail line."
"Lovely scenery surrounding this walk along the river and woodland. Great gor bird enthusiasts and hides to explore slong the route."
"Beautiful place to visit. Great for walks with the family or dogs, feels safe, parking is available and it’s a clean and well looked after area."
"This was my first visit to sprotbrough flash and I really enjoyed the visit. The main path is accessible to wheel chairs and buggies as are the hides and the viewing screen. The main path runs between the river Don and the lake. We decided to come off the main path and cut up through the woods which was beautiful and the path took us up the side of a farmers field and the views from there were beautiful. We took our dog and she really enjoyed it. Dogs must be kept on a lead in certain protected areas of the reserve. The path eventually brings you back out to the boat inn where you can get something to eat and drink. There are many more paths to explore so we will definitely be visiting again. Only downside is the car park is too small but luckily there are a few lay bys to park in. Also no toilets and not enough rubbish bins."
