Reviews of Gaucho Liverpool
"Absolutely deserves a 5 star. The effort from Ben, who served me on an immaculate professional way, is the ice on the cake. I was presented with a variety of wine of meat. When my food arrived, it was well presented and perfect timing. The manager came to welcome me. From starters to desserts as was offered unconditional help /guidance. Based on my experience, I truly recommend Gaucho in Liverpool"
"Lovely location and ambiance but I feel that that's what we mainly paid for. Food was ok, but for the price, I wasn't blown away. The starter was lovely, I had the empanadas. I was a bit annoyed at the fact that you had to order a minimum of 2, as they're quite big. I think this promotes over eating and waste. The steak was cooked right, but my husband had to spit half of it back on his plate as it was too chewy. Happy they had a decent dairy free dessert ( brownie), but the ice cream didn't taste of anything. The dulce de leche cheesecake was very disappointing, mainly because I think whoever plated it forgot to add the sauce. I had seen a photo of it on Instagram and it looked nothing like my sad plate - I am a big dessert eater so you can understand my disappointment. Overall we had a nice evening but I don't think we'll be going back."
"I found Gaucho to be a little frustrating as an overall experience. The location as a former bank has an old school grandeur with sky high ceilings and marble columns. There is an oval bar which has been well integrated into the location. However (and here begins a theme) not enough attention has been paid to sound, so that the music is a drone and conversation echoes loudly. Perhaps unavoidable in such a space. Totally avoidable though is having slightly too small tables. In a group of four this meant much rearranging and having dishes removed almost as they landed to make room. It might sound fussy but it's hard to get around. Maybe ask to be seated at one of the square tables rather than our round one. The service was similar. Very knowledgeable and competent. They felt understaffed though which meant service was a little title rushed and haphazard we had the wrong sides delivered. Sorted quickly and with a smile. So my frustration is with the management team not the staff. The food sadly was still patchy in terms of deliciousness, which when paying this much isn't good enough. The prawns were plump and juicy but the rest of the dish lacked flavour The steak thankfully was tasty and all were cooked as ordered. Each steak comes with a side and a sauce. You'll need at least one other side though unless you're content with a rather sad plate. The sides though were not all great. The chips with thyme salt were really good. The mash was not, indistinguishable from readymade supermarket fare. The spinach was my favourite, not creamy as it so often is but with a deep savoury punch of flavour. The oyster mushrooms were unremarkable and totally lacking the citrus punch promised. The truffle Mac and cheese had a good truffle taste, but overcooked pasta and a sauce neither creamy or cheesy was very disappointing. The broccoli was also a little underdone. To end, I would come back here, but only to try the Sunday roast which was I think £26. I am also keen to try it's nearby rival Hawksmoor to compare"
"Excellent dining experience and great steaks overall, we had a really good time and the staff are extremely attentive and helpful. In terms of pricing, it is slightly higher than hawksmoor despite similar food quality. But the decor and the setup is worth it, we visited on a Friday and there was an in house DJ and really good atmosphere overall."
"What a lovely experience. The restaurant is gorgeous, couldn't ask for a more upscale and relaxing environment. Fantastic food and drinks, tons of options. Lovely staff who were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend, my new favourite in Liverpool."
