"I joined Roko on a 12 month membership - I didn’t really enjoy the gym, the classes were good but I didn’t really use the facilities much and I did not think it was worth £50 a month which you are then tied to on a contract. When it came to cancelling you have to give 3 months notice, of which you have to work this out yourself and get no reminders, and so you are effectively tied into a 15 month membership unless you remember after 9 months to cancel. When I gave my 3 months notice I was told that my last payment would be taken out in the July. However, when it came to June I emailed to confirm that my membership would still be cancelled. I then received an email saying that I hadn’t given my notice and my 3 months would then follow from that most recent email, which would have been 3 extra payments. They were quick to sort this out when I emailed with screenshotted proof that I had already given my 3 months notice - but I can’t help feeling this is something they do to a lot of people to get them to continue paying as I have read other reviews saying this and heard the same from other people unless it is brought up."
"I only signed up this week so it’s difficult to comment on what it’s going to be like long term, but so far? What a place, honestly I’ve looked forward to coming every single day, class gym despite it being upstairs and relatively small, modern and up to date, friendly yet professional staff and the pool facilities are brilliant. At this price point Roko is a pure hidden gem in York."
