Reviews of Walk-My-Dogs
"Earlier today I encountered what I now know to be a dog walker as he had 6-7 dogs with him. I am a 65 year old lady and I was out with my dog a 3 ½ year old rescue dog - I have had her for 3 years. I tend to walk in quiet locations because she had a difficult start in life and does not cope well with large numbers of dogs. I was walking through Blackamore Woods adjacent to Hathersage Road, my dog is always on a long line, we were on our way back to my car after a successful walk passing a couple of dogs and walking through a herd of black cows that were on the footpath without incident. In the woods I saw someone in the distance walking towards me, a large brown wire haired dog came around the corner, my dog immediately went in to a play bow to let the dog know that she was not a threat. A second dog came round the corner, a brown Doberman – I shouted to the man “how many dogs do you have?” he was scrolling on his mobile phone and did not respond, I again shouted to him telling him that my dog did not cope well with large numbers of dogs – he carried on playing with his phone, a third dog came round the corner, a small white French Bulldog type, this dog grumbled at my dog and then a growly squabble ensued between my dog and the white dog. My dog is a lightweight medium size cross breed. Fortunately the 2 larger dogs did not get involved. The dog walker had at least 3 other dogs with him a small black dog (off lead) and I think 2 others on lead, he did NOTHING TO HELP, but what could he do with so many dogs?! Also he was neither present nor paying attention to the dogs when the squabble began. After separating the 2 dogs I managed to walk my dog past the dog walker and away from the situation. Unfortunately because the dog walker had so many dogs with him he was unable to regain control of the white dog and it ran back towards me and my dog growling and again a squabble ensued, Again he was not present, he was some distance down the footpath. During this altercation the clip on my dog’s lead broke and once again HE DID NOTHING! Again I managed to separate the dogs and lead my dog away using her harness. Unfortunately when dogs are all together they can get the Pack Mentality. It's not their fault. It's in their nature. Trouble is, when they are together and have strength in numbers, they can often become more confident and intimidate a lone dog. There was no attempt to apologise, and after cooing over his dog he merely walked off. I was understandably angry and decided to wait for him to return. I waited for an hour, I wanted a photo of him so I could find out who he was. On his return I got out of my car and took a photo of him, his response was to start videoing me and asking me who I was, I asked who he was and was he a dog walker – he refused to answer and repeatedly blamed me and my dog for the incident, apparently the other dog involved was called Bertie and needed veterinary attention, however he was well enough to go for an hours walk beforehand. I was told because my dog caused the injuries I would be responsible for the vet’s fees. I got into my car, he followed me, again I asked if he was a dog walker he walked around the back of my car and started taking photo’s of my dog he said he hoped I was a better driver than a dog owner! Professional dog walking is governed by local Bye Laws and if the dogs are out of control and something goes wrong, the walker will be liable regardless of how many dogs they are allowed to walk. I discovered later that this man is the proprietor of Walk-my Dogs, and yes I did call him a "k---b h--d."
