"Speedwell House is a gem. We booked the self catering accommodation in the converted barn. It was wonderful, we had everything that one needs for the perfect holiday. Plus our dog Argo was also allowed to stay. The attention to detail in the barn is really beautiful. Every inch of the space was carefully considered. One can see it was renovated to maintain its beautiful old rustic style, but mixed with very modern appliances and a fantastic bathroom. From the moment we arrived, Hilary and Mark and of course Dexter the dog made us feel so welcome. They were perfect hosts. They are funny, kind, and really accommodating. The location is perfect for beautiful long walks in the Peak District. Followed by a glass of wine in the enormous beautiful gardens at the back of house. Truly a lovely stay in a lovely place with amazing hosts and the cutest dog, Dexter. We already miss it and can't wait to return. Thank you both so much."
"We stayed in Speedwell Stable. Small and luxurious with everything you need and more. there is a lovely large garden around the back that is lovely a lovely place to sit and relax. All amenities are within walking distance. The location is perfect for exploring the area on foot, bike or car. Mark, Hilary & Dexter are wonderful hosts."
"We had an amazing stay in Feb 2022. While the weather was pretty grim, the barn was warm, cosy and a lovely base for our Peak holiday. Steve, our dog, loved the barn and the huge garden. The bed was really comfortable and perfect after long days hiking. The TV was great, and the kitchen is well stocked. The shower has descent power and gets really hot. Hillary and Mark were so warm and welcoming, it really made such a nice difference to have such great hosts. So many nice touches and details around the barn as well. The location is brilliant if you plan to do some hiking or to see some of the attractions in Castleton; only 10 minutes walk from the base of Mam Tor."
