Reviews of Beechwood Veterinary Hospital - Doncaster
"A long story short, prices at this vets have kept rising consistently over the past 4 years, where customer service, continuity and feedback standards have been plummeting. I have taken my 3 pets elsewhere now, I have lost my trust in what was once a good veterinary surgery. To echo one of the other recent reviews, all it is about now, is money. They don't care about your pets. One such example is that they push you into extremely expensive MRI scans, and refuse other diagnosis or medication until it is done. Without considering financial circumstances and/or the pets welfare. The straw that broke the camels back for me was that they have now started charging £10 per pet insurance claim. Oh yes of course it's free when you: 1. Fill in the form yourself, post or drop into Beechwood reception. 2. Beechwood then have to manually fill in their part of the form anyway!!. 3. Pick up the form from Beechwood. 4. Send the form back to Pet insurer. The alternative used to be the reception team at Beechwood logged into a portal of the insurer on the internet and log the claim which would take 2 mins. But this now costs £10. Causing disruption to everyone's lives, and even making the process more difficult for their own staff. Disgraceful money making scheme, which the owner/proprietor should be ashamed of themselves for implementing. Especially at a time when people are struggling to pay for electricity and gas. Unforgivable. Edit: it is actually £20 for any new claim to your pet insurer for a condition. Then £10 for every subsequent claim. So if like me you have an animal which requires ongoing medication prescriptions of which my cat has 2 for 2 different conditions. That is £20 every time for ordering and claiming their repeat prescription. Scandalous. Edit2: I have now visited a new veterinary practice. I requested for my cats notes to be migrated over. I have visited the new vets and they have informed me that there are no practical notes on his file, only a long list of medications that Beechwood prescribed and failed to treat my cat with. So 4 years of near monthly visits are useless due to the inability for staff at Beechwood to make notes on ongoing issues. This includes no account of multiple blood, urine, and x-ray tests that were advised to be conducted. Now I will have to start again with all these tests at cost, but more importantly put my cat through more stress."
"A spectacularly upsetting experience. My cat is very old. I have seen a very young vet who didn’t really know what is wrong with my cat but she has lost the use of one of her legs. I am reluctant to put her through unnecessary or distressing treatment. I wanted to see a more experienced vet to see if on the back it their wealth of knowledge what the likely problem is and what maybe best for her quality of life. I was refused an appointment based on the other vet’s history and not my concerns of her age and unclear diagnosis. I am appalled that you would refuse to see or discuss my unwell animal in an appointment before recommending I see a vet neurologist. That’s not how it is done. Shame on you all. **** Following your reply. It would have been better if you could have discussed this with me, I think you can see from my email earlier today, which you could have replied to, you also have my phone number, that I was unhappy, rather than via a message via your staff, in your refusal to see my cat. I am not looking for definite answers, she is a geriatric cat. A new general opinion is all I requested. Your suggestion of a neurologist is maybe valid, but you haven’t seen my cat how can you be sure? My understanding is that in the private sector, I am not tied to any one vet for a general opinion. Though, we have been to your practice with the same cat before. Your communication of my enquiry today should have been a lot better."
"What friendly staff and the VET Mark explained everything so we understood the surgery he was doing on my dog. Mark and the Nurse's was woundful. Couldn't have ask for better care for my dog. Would highly recommend them"
"SO MUCH FOR CARING VETS!!! MORE ABOUT MONEY THAN SERVICE! Over 7 Years I took my 2 little terriers to Beechwood. Their prices have doubled in that time. I sent an email asking them to explain something I'd been charged. No answer! I received a "survey" so I spoke my mind! Now they've cancelled an appointment for my dog to have dental surgery, even though they've told me he's in a lot of pain and they've told me I have to choose a new vets that they've cancelled me. At no point did I swear, call anyone names or be rude, I simply spoke my mind! Disgusting! **** Regarding the reply below. They haven't addressed any of my issues! They cancelled me because I said their fees of £1066 for dental treatment was daylight robbery and it stinks! That's it! Basta!"
